Job Overview

 

TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.

Responsibilities

 

•    Understand assigned test request requirements and determine resource requirements
•    Review assigned test requests and perform testing to ensure TE products meet customer performance and reliability needs
•    Understand test request and prepare test set up including fixture design, component selection, test procedure to be followed etc. with assistance from senior test engineers and Test Lab Manager as needed.
•    Perform electrical and mechanical testing on TE products per test procedures. 
•    Write detailed test procedures and test reports as needed to support the test lab and its customers in performing testing
•    Follow testing protocols to address specific customer needs
•    Collaborate with other lab engineers on interdisciplinary teams to plan and conduct complex test programs. 
•    Collaborate with other lab engineers on interdisciplinary teams to design and prepare test systems for unusual tests. 
•    Assist in identification of new or replacement test equipment for purchase.
•    Execute test plans as per internal and external customer requests
•    Follow Quality Management System and support record keeping and audits for the tests performed.
•    Support fixture development requirements and evaluate test fixtures as needed with help of senior test engineers
•    Take accountability for on time completion of tests requested.
•    Ensure all safety requirements are met. 
•    Ensure good engineering practices are followed. 
•    Provide inputs to estimate labor and materials required for testing
•    Capable of working to drawings, diagrams, and schematics
•    Must be capable of multitasking and taking full ownership of assigned projects.
•    Participate and/or lead employee continuous improvement teams as needed.
•    Perform other duties as assigned by management

 

Qualification and Experience

 

•    Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics Engineering
•    6+ years of experience in R&D test lab environment

 

Skillset and Profile

 

•    Mandatory requirement of experience in working for R&D Test lab environment
•    Experience in electrical & mechanical design consideration for electrical and electromechanical product development in industrial / aerospace / automotive / medical / energy domain
•    Experience in understanding product functional requirement of a product and designing the components/subsystems to meet Product Performance criteria.  
•    Hands on experience for tearing apart assemblies / sub-assemblies of electromechanical parts
•    Experience in preventive maintenance activities for continuous operations
•    Experience to practice safety and quality management systems i.e. OSHA, AS9100D, ISO 17025 
•    Capable of Handling Multiple Projects simultaneously
•    Good Conceptual, problem solving and Analytical Skills.
•    Should be Self-Motivated, Adaptive, Passionate about results and a Good Team Player
•    Strong Interpersonal & stake holder management skill
•    Strong Technical Aptitude with Willingness to explore & learn new Technologies.
•    Demonstrated Experience of working in a fast paced and changing environment with tight deadlines
•    Knowledge of six sigma tools will be an added advantage.
•    Knowledge of Global Certifications and Regulatory Standards (UL, IEC, MIL etc.) is an advantage
•    Willingness to Travel for project requirements as required
