Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Industrial Business provides innovative products and solutions for factory automation, process control, and power distribution. We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer / Senior Design Engineer with strong expertise in CREO, with knowledge on manufacturing processes like Casting, Forging, Plastic molding, Sheet Metal to support new product development and continuous improvement activities. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of design, analysis, and quality tool knowledge to develop reliable products that meet customer needs in industries such as Switchgear, Railway, Wind Energy and Cable Manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop Medium Voltage Cable Accessories, Vacuum Circuit Breakers, and related products using CREO (Part Modeling, Sheet Metal, Assembly).
  • Ensure high-quality product design by applying GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and interpretation of engineering drawings.
  • Utilize quality tools (8D, Why-Why analysis, Fishbone) to identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
  • Apply expertise in plastics and sheet metal design, ensuring manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
  • Perform and interpret mechanical FEA and demonstrate working knowledge of electrical FEA.
  • Participate in the product development process, from concept through prototyping, validation, and launch.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including simulation, manufacturing, and quality.
  • Prepare and present technical documentation, design reviews, and reports.

Candidate Desired Profile:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred).
  • Electro-Mechanical or Mechanical background may be considered based on strong relevant experience.

Experience:

  • 4–8 years of experience in product design and development within Switchgear, Wind, or Cable Manufacturing industries.
  • Prior experience in Medium Voltage Cable Accessories or Vacuum Circuit Breakers is highly desirable.
  • Hands-on expertise in:
    • CAD systems (CREO – Part Modeling, Sheet Metal & Assembly).
    • Design for Manufacturability (DFM) – Machining, Forging, Casting, Molding, Stamping, Plating.
    • Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and prototyping methods.
    • Quality tools (8D, Fishbone, Why-Why).

Nice to Have:

  • Strong conceptual thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret simulation results and integrate into design improvements.
  • Effective communication skills and experience working with cross-functional/global teams.
  • Exposure to Medium Voltage (33kV) Switchgear design or related systems.

Generally requires Bachelors degree in appropriate field or local equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible professional level experience
