Job Overview

Product Engineer is part of sustaining engineering & product development team to support individual products or specific technical elements for small-sized projects and sustaining engineering activities. This position support sustaining and development of products for Engineered Polymer Solutions (EPS) and Wire and Cable (WNC) value streams for Aerospace and Defense BU
 

Responsibilities:

• Managing day to day sustaining engineering activities for EPS and WNC 
• Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to support a single product, service or process.
• Providing technical support in designing advanced solutions to continuously improve system performance.
• Assisting senior engineers and designers to engineer effective manufacturing processes/technology while preserving product design functionality.
• Helping identify potential improvement areas and develop associated solutions.
 

Desired Candidate Profile:

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE & CRITICAL EXPERIENCE


• B.E / B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field
• Generally, 2+ years of experience in supporting Development / Product Engineering activities.
• Strong proven track record in mechanical engineering
• Hands on experience in plastic and rubber part design
• Ability to work as a Team player
• Basic knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.

COMPETENCIES
FUNCTIONAL: 
Mandatory:


• Working knowledge with usage of CAD systems (CREO preferred)
• Basic understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings/product prints
• Interpretation of simulation results
• Basic knowledge in GD&T
• Working knowledge in Manufacturing process (Molding & Extrusion)
• Fundamental knowledge of product development process/cycle
• Basic knowledge in product/ material testing
• Working knowledge in prototyping method/techniques
• Basic Knowledge in quality tools (FMEA, 8D, Why-Why analysis, Fish bone….)

Preferred:
• Basic knowledge in Tolerance stack-up 
• Basic knowledge on design of Plastics & rubber components
• Good Conceptual, problem solving and Analytical Skills

Our internship program typically runs May thru August and gives students the opportunity to work on projects that contribute to the success of their team and build on their classroom experience. Throughout the 10–12-week program, interns will be provided with:

Timeline
TE Connectivity recruits on campus between September and March for New Grad (FT), Rotational, Internship and Co-op positions beginning in May. Once you have applied to a position, your resume and application will be reviewed. If you are selected to move to the next step in the application process, you will be contacted by a recruiter. Once you accept an offer, the onboarding process will begin in January for interns who have committed to offers in the fall semester and upon acceptance for interns who have committed to offers in the spring semester.
