Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.

BU  / FUNCTION DESCRIPTION 

TE Industrial is a $1.1B global business unit within the IS (Industrial Solutions) Segment of TE, a full-fledged P&L with Manufacturing, Sales, Engineering, Product Management, and Industry Marketing. Leveraging cross industry innovation and proven engineering expertise, TE Industrial pushes the boundaries of efficiency and productivity. The product compliance focuses on product environmental coding of our products to international product content legislation such as RoHS, REACH, Halogen, etc.  The function further coordinates and aligns resources inside TE’s offs-shore compliance support function to act specifically on conflict minerals reporting obligations to our customers, which require evidence of supply chain compliance to customers

Job Description

 

LOCATION    : Bangalore

ROLE OBJECTIVE 

Role is to co-ordinate on product and materials compliance activities across all of the global manufacturing sites in this business unit. Provide support to all sites in collecting materials compliance information from our supplier base and in providing product and materials compliance information to our customers.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 
 As a Product Compliance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability of Compliance information for NPI Parts during Launch & Sustaining changes, ensuring the accuracy of Compliance information for the Parts during Regulation updates & Supplier ECN Changes. In this role, you will have the opportunity to handle customer requests & their queries related to Regulatory requirements.
You will be responsible to work with the engineering, product management & Procurement teams to guide them on Compliance Regulatory Requirement & maintain the compliance information in TE System. 

 

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE
•    Good Knowledge & Experience in Global Regulations like EU RoHS, China-RoHS, REACH (SCIP Database) EU ELV, Conflict of Minerals, WEEE, CA Prop 65, UL, IPC 1752A FMD and Customer Formats.
•    Good knowledge & experience in Compliance Management Tools like WPA/BOM Check/IMDS/CDX etc.
•    Experience in handling Customers & Suppliers
•    Willingness to learn and understand our complex systems plus handling
•    High degree of motivation and being happy working with international colleagues
•    Experience in SAP data management environment an advantage
•    Self-motivated with the ability to work under minimal supervision linked to the product team
•    Solid English and the ability for the interpretation of legal language in order to transform this in logic and more simple terms
•    Proficient in MS Office suite

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
•    Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical Engineering Degree
•    3 to 5 years of engineering experience in similar related field of product environmental compliance and product data management in industrial engineering, electrical & electronic equipment companies or production data environment.
