PRODUCT DVL CAD ENGINEER II

At TE, you will unleash your potential working with people from diverse backgrounds and industries to create a safer, sustainable and more connected world.

Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams are responsible for product design from concept through qualification.  The 3D CAD model central to these products incorporates aspects of mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing disciplines.  This team is responsible for managing, verifying, and applying those design aspects to 3D models in order to provide an improved model capable of further analysis by interdisciplinary engineering teams.  Using your skills as a mechanical or assembly engineer to understand and implement these technical interactions as related to the model is critical.

Responsibilities:

As a part of the Product Development CAD modeling team, the candidate will support and interact with engineers in order to detail and enhance 3D CAD models of high speed TE Connectivity products.  The position requires that the candidate both be able to work independently, and also regularly interface with engineering, manufacturing, and product teams to guide and assist with daily operations.  The candidate will regularly:

•Collaborate with Product Development Engineers, Signal Integrity Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineers to verify design requirements
•Review and internalize a wide variety of design inputs, from 2D mechanical prints to industry standards documents
•Detail and enhance 3D models based on engineering input.
•Work through conflicts in design objectives to reach technical consensus
•Perform assembly-level tolerance analyses
•Interface with electrical simulation tools
•Document inputs, constraints, requirements, etc…
•Create presentations to communicate designs internally and with customers

Necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities:

•    Knowledge of 3D CAD design techniques, tools, and principals involved in producing CAD models and documentation.
•    Minimum 3 years of experience with ANSYS Space Claim
•    Working knowledge of PTC Creo and PTC Windchill/PDMLink
•    Knowledge of 3D CAD preparation for simulation optimization and parameterization
•    Minimum 3 years of experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and various dimensioning schemes of 2D mechanical prints.
•    Recommended 3 years of experience with assembly-level component interaction, and related tolerancing.
•    Manufacturing knowledge and/or experience with stamping, forming, molding, and assembly.
•    Familiarity with interconnect products
•    Familiarity with simulation (mechanical and/or electrical) tools, preferably ANSYS
•    Strong Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills

•    Fluent in English (both verbal and written) to facilitate global communication with internally customers.
•    Ability to work in a global environment – able to accommodate varying time zones and capable of collaborating with individuals across geographies.
•    Solid presentation skills with an ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences in English.
•    Strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to manage and execute multiple tasks/deadlines/projects simultaneously with limited direction.
•    Strong analytical capabilities to interpret prints, models, and input data to identify issues and provide solutions to fix identified problem.
