Job Overview
TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.
What your background should look like:


The Mechanical Design Engineer will be a member of Energy’s CF Product Design Team located in the Bangalore Engineering Design Center. The role will be responsible for Computer Aided design of products and sustaining engineering support for TE Energy products.


  • Designing TE Energy products for LV, MV & HV applications using metallic and polymeric materials
  • 3D CAD design using Creo/Pro-E & 2D CAD design
  • Product Data management of BOMs, routings etc.
  • Assist Energy’s global engineering teams with New Product Developments across a range of projects and executing on cost optimization/reduction (VA/VE) opportunities for the business
  • Reverse Engineering competitor products
  • Operating 3D scanning & 3D printing equipment
  • Preparing design verification test plans, Design & Process FMEAs
  • Recording results of design reviews and design decision meetings and report writing
  • Successfully facilitate transfer and support of new product introduction (NPI) into high volume manufacturing.
  • Design of jigs & fixtures for product testing where required. 
  • Support product compliance and approvals for all new products and platforms as required by our customers.
  • Be a strong technical partner and provide support to Product management teams. Attend/support customer meetings, technology days and site visits as required.


  • Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • Organized, methodical and self-motivated individual with the ability to work under minimal supervision, on own initiative and meet own commitments is essential.
  • 3D CAD design. Experience with Pro-E 3D design essential.
  • Experience with product design of connector products for high-voltage power networks and/or network accessories (essential)
  • > 5 to 7 years engineering related experience for Energy market applications
  • Knowledge in product design of plastic/rubber components, e.g. thermoset molding or rubber molding an advantage
  • Experience in 3D scanning, 3D printing an advantage
  • Experience in reverse engineering an advantage
  • LDFSS or DMAIC 6-sigma black or green belt an advantage
  • Experience in SAP product data management environment
  • Familiarity with ANSI, UL, IEEE, IEC connector specifications an advantage
  • Proficient in MS Office suite
  • Willingness to travel
  • Fluent English
  • French (advantage)
