Job Overview

 

TE Connectivity is setting up a new state of the art world class at Bangalore, India to support Aerospace, Defense and Marine (ADM) business unit. As part of the team, incumbent Manager will be responsible to lead and manage operations and a team of engineers and technicians associated with testing Electrical, Electronic and Electromechanical products that TE offers under ADM Business Unit. 

Incumbents’ role is to lead engineering validation tests including performance and life evaluation in harsh environment conditions that include thermal, mechanical, electrical and vibration environment. Some of the products he / she will be responsible to support include Relays, Connectors, Sensors, Wire harness, Contactors & Rugged fiber optic products etc. The role is very transversal, with contacts and stakeholders across regions.
 

Responsibilities


Coordinates testing with various sub business units including maintaining schedules and assuring all aspects of the TE and test lab quality systems are followed.
Reviews test programs within span of control establishing schedules, assigning, and monitoring progress of the test programs.
Assists requesting engineers in the development of test programs.
Data analysis, data reporting and failure analysis.
Assists in the formulation of department policies and standard operating procedures to ensure effective utilization personnel, equipment, and facilities.
Understanding the lab quality management system well and is responsible for ensuring team understands and follows the quality management system properly.
May contract test programs to other laboratories both within and outside of TE when capabilities or schedules require.
Prepares or assists in the preparation of budgets, capital equipment requests, and submits reports as requested.
Manages team workload and metrics and creation of monthly reports.
Establishes training plans for the development of personnel in their present job and for career growth including orientation of new employees.
Works closely with the lab engineers and technicians promoting employee engagement.
Performs job reviews and appraisals of employees for personal development and improved performance.
Keeps abreast of new developments in the field of laboratory testing through technical publications, seminars, and conferences.
Assists in the development of new testing standards and procedures.
May lead, act as management champion, or participate on internal continuous improvement and employee health and safety teams or other TE initiatives.
Will be challenged to expand the test lab customer base.
Assist in the development of IoT processes as they are related to testing and other laboratory processes.
Manage operations for mechanical / electrical testing and material characterization requests.
Co-ordinate with Global & local stake holders for project execution
Work with local and global external agencies / suppliers for samples, prototypes and testing needs
Provide Technical support, root cause failure analysis and problem-solving assistance on manufacturing or quality issues related to product failures.
High technical skills to teardown product for cost analysis
Coordinate with vendor for AMC, Calibration & preventive maintenance of Equipment’s

Skill Set and Profile

 

 

•    Ability to think strategically and formulate plans for execution to achieve business goals
•    Evaluate performance, define development plans for reporting engineers
•    Deploy and manage quality management system ISO 9001:2015 / AS9100D 
•    Experience in electrical & mechanical design consideration for electrical and electromechanical product development in industrial / aerospace / automotive / medical / energy domain
•    Experience in understanding top level functional requirement of a product and designing the components/subsystems to meet Product Performance criteria  
•    Ability to communicate effectively and accurately across multi-cultural groups
•    Strong Conceptual, problem solving and Analytical Skills
•    Capable of Handling Multiple Projects simultaneously
•    Ability to create and sustain best practices
•    Knowledge of manufacturing processes mainly Molding, Stamping and Plating
•    Should be Self-Motivated, Adaptive, Passionate about results and a Good Team Player.
•    Analyzing and documenting competitor benchmarking results
•    Excellent project management skills and managing techno-commercial activities in parallel
•    Demonstrated Experience of working in a fast paced and changing environment with tight deadlines
•    Knowledge of Global Certifications and Regulatory Standards (UL, IEC, MIL, DLA etc.) is an advantage.
•    Willingness to Travel for project requirements as required.

•    Familiarity with test laboratory processes a plus.
•    Knowledge of test methods and test specifications preferred.
•    Proficient in MS Office Suite including MS Project.
•    Excellent and proven leadership skills.
•    Excellent relationship and communication skills.
•    Demonstrated leadership skills with strong ability to successfully lead and develop a team.
•    Clear, strategic thinker with the ability to execute on priorities.
•    Must have good conflict resolution skills.

 

Education and Knowdledge

 

•    B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Mechanical Engineering 
•    12+ years of experience in engineering field for testing Electrical / Electromechanical Products 
•    Hands on Test Experience for at least 3+ years is added advantage.
•    At least 3+ years of experience as Manager for Engineers / Technicians 
•    Knowledge about AS9100D, DLA, UL, Continuous Improvement, 5S, Kaizen & Business Excellence

 

Critical Experience

 

•    3 to 7 years working experience in multinational companies in Supply Chain functions 
•    Solid experience driving Cost Reduction and Data Analytics strategies & implementation 
•    Experience with SAP highly desirable.
•    Exposure to Data
Analytical tools and Data Management would be added advantage
