Job Overview

The Test Systems Governance & Quality Framework Architect is responsible for defining, implementing, and enforcing structured development processes, quality standards, and validation frameworks for automated test systems.
This role ensures that all test systems — across hardware, software, and integrated platforms — are developed with strong traceability, measurement integrity, compliance, and scalability.
The role partners closely with Test Platform Architects, Product Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to establish disciplined, repeatable, and auditable test system development practices aligned with industry standards and organizational goals.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities
1. Test Systems Governance
•    Define and institutionalize end-to-end lifecycle processes for test system development (concept → design → validation → deployment → sustainment)
•    Establish and enforce stage-gate reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, production readiness)
•    Drive architecture-level FMEA and risk management frameworks for test systems
•    Ensure requirement traceability from product specifications to test coverage and validation results
•    Standardize documentation practices, version control, and release governance\

2. Quality Framework
•    Define and govern measurement integrity practices including:
o    Gage R&R
o    Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
o    Calibration traceability
o    Uncertainty management
•    Establish validation protocols for test systems (verification, correlation, repeatability, reproducibility)
•    Ensure compliance with relevant standards (ISO, IEC, EIA etc.)
•    Define audit mechanisms and periodic quality reviews for test systems
•    Drive defect containment, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives

3. System Design & Governance
•    Define guidelines for:
o    Test coverage strategy
o    Error handling and fault containment
o    Logging, traceability, and data retention
•    Lead design reviews to ensure adherence to architecture, quality, and compliance standards
•    Establish best practices for modular, scalable, and maintainable test systems
•    Collaborate with platform architects to ensure governance is embedded in system design

4. Software, Data & Analytics
•    Define standards for test software development:
o    Coding practices
o    Version control
o    CI/CD for test systems
•    Establish data governance frameworks:
o    Data integrity and traceability
o    Structured test data schemas
o    Integration with MES/PLM systems
•    Define guidelines for analytics:
o    SPC implementation
o    Trend monitoring
o    Anomaly detection frameworks
•    Ensure cybersecurity and access control for test systems and data pipelines

5. Hardware Governance
•    Define standards for:
o    Test fixture design and validation
o    Instrument calibration and maintenance
o    Electrical safety and compliance
•    Ensure hardware validation processes meet reliability and repeatability requirements
•    Establish lifecycle management practices for test equipment and fixtures

6. Technology & Architecture Governance
•    Partner with Test Platform Architects to:
o    Align governance frameworks with system architecture
o    Evaluate new technologies for compliance and scalability
•    Define guidelines for technology adoption (tools, frameworks, instrumentation)
•    Ensure long-term maintainability and upgrade readiness of test systems

7. Leadership & Delivery
•    Lead and mentor cross-functional teams on governance, quality, and process excellence
•    Drive alignment across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supplier teams
•    Establish KPIs for test system quality, reliability, and deployment readiness
•    Act as a subject matter expert in audits, compliance reviews, and customer engagements
•    Promote a culture of disciplined engineering and continuous improvement

Required Skills & Competency

Mandatory Skills & Experience
•    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering
•    18+ years of experience in test engineering, quality engineering, or system validation


•    Strong experience with:
o    Test system lifecycle processes
o    Stage-gate reviews (PDR, CDR, etc.)
o    FMEA and risk management

•    Hands-on experience with:
o    Gage R&R and MSA
o    Calibration and measurement systems

•    Proven experience in:
o    Cross-functional collaboration (HW, SW, Manufacturing)
o    Driving process standardization and compliance

•    Familiarity with quality and compliance standards:

o    ISO 9001 / ISO 26262 / ASPICE / IEC (as applicable)
•    Strong documentation, review, and governance skills
