BU / FUNCTION DESCRIPTION
Digital Data & Networks (DDN) Business Unit at TE Connectivity, where we enable high-speed connectivity solutions that power today’s and tomorrow’s data-driven world. Engineering team is responsible for development of innovative power interconnection solution products which are used in the hyperscale computer, AI, Datacenter, Cloud server, and other IT system, including connector and cable assembly. We engineer and manufacture cutting-edge interconnect solutions that support high-speed data transmission, signal integrity, and power efficiency.
ROLE OBJECTIVE
As MGR R&D/PRODUCT DVL ENGINEERING in TE Connectivity’s Digital Data & Networks (DDN) Business Unit, you will lead a global sustaining engineering team responsible for the continued support and evolution of production parts and products throughout their lifecycle. This includes driving product lifecycle management, product extensions, rapid NPIs, VAVE initiatives, sustainability improvements, material and process changes, and manufacturing location transfers. The role also involves providing technical support to plants, suppliers, and customers to ensure continuity, quality, and cost optimization.
Job Requirements
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / Electrical, or a related Engineering discipline; advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years of relevant engineering experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a progressive leadership or management role.
- Strong foundation in mechanical and electrical engineering principles with proven application in product development.
- Demonstrated technical leadership in problem-solving, root cause analysis, and conflict resolution.
- Prior experience in connector and cable assembly products is highly preferred.
- Proven expertise in sustaining engineering and product lifecycle support, including design enhancements, prototyping, testing, and cost/productivity improvements (VAVE).
- Understanding of product lifecycle management (PLM) and new product development (NPD) processes.
- Hands-on experience with modern design and analysis tools including 3D CAD, modeling, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), and simulation tools.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, molding, stamping, and plating.
- Knowledge of material properties (metal/plastics) and their application in products.
- Familiarity with quality tools and methodologies such as FMEA, Six Sigma, DOE, 8D, etc.
- Strong leadership and motivational skills with the ability to inspire and align cross-functional global teams toward high performance in a fast-paced environment.
- Track record of successfully delivering engineering outcomes and influencing stakeholders across business functions.
- Proven capability to recruit, develop, and lead multidisciplinary global engineering teams.
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams, cultures, and organizational levels.
- Highly organized, self-driven, and able to manage multiple competing priorities with minimal supervision.
Job Responsibilities
- Build, lead, and manage a diverse global engineering team responsible for sustaining activities across the DDN Business Unit.
- Develop and execute effective resource planning strategies in alignment with global product family needs and future engineering demands.
- Serve as a strong technical partner to cross-functional teams, including Program Management, Sales, Field Application Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and Compliance.
- Lead team to execute critical engineering projects, including manufacturing transfers, sustaining, product extensions, cost reduction (VAVE), sustainability and rapid New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives.
- Represent engineering in customer meetings, project meetings and site visits, providing technical support and insights as needed.
- Champion continuous improvement by enhancing product designs and engineering processes to drive efficiency, cost optimization, and sustainability.
- Empower and coach team members to achieve business goals, while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and professional growth.
- Monitor and report key engineering metrics regularly to senior leadership, ensuring alignment with monthly, quarterly, and annual objectives.
- Develop future-ready engineering capabilities, recognize high performance, and build succession plans to strengthen organizational resilience
