The India EHS&S leader in collaboration with the India leadership team ensures and monitors safety in the workplace and compliance with all environmental requirements. Including the application and communication of health, safety, environmental procedures and practices consistent with established safety and environmental regulations.
Responsibilities will include working closely with site EHS&S leaders to support and encourage consistency in EHS programs. The job holder will also provide direct EHS&S leadership for the India Shared Service site, Corporate office and the Engineering Laboratory and office. The position will be based at the India Shared Service building in Bangalore and report to the GM, Managing Director-TE India with functional EHS&S reporting to the Corporate EH&S Leader
Job Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain a positive and strong culture of engagement in EHS&S.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, health and environmental legislations as per local statutory requirements and global TE guidelines.
- Monitor legislation changes and ensure new requirements are implemented.
- Participate in reviews of third-party compliance audits in collaboration with site and business unit EHS&S leaders.
- Maintain an effective EHS&S management system for the Engineering Laboratory location.
- Develop EHS&S strategy, recommending goals and objectives to improve performance for all the managing locations.
- Ensure all TE EHS&S corporate initiatives are deployed to achieve goals and strategy for all managed locations.
- Ensure that EHS&S risks are assessed, quantified and prioritized. Ensure they are controlled and projects identified to mitigate or reduce the risks.
- Communicate with all levels in the organization on EHS&S programs to engage, influence and partner with the managing site leaders and India leadership team.
- In collaboration with business unit EHS&S leaders assist with auditing and evaluating EHS&S performance of the management systems at sites in India. Direct responsibility for audits and inspections at the managing locations.
- Organize or Deliver trainings to business unit EHS&S leaders, business leaders on key topics for strengthening EHS&S culture within organization. Direct responsibility for managing EHS&S training program at the managing locations.
- Participate and support business unit EHS&S leaders in incident investigations and advise management on corrective actions as and when required.
- Trend analysis of incidents for India and advise business unit EHS&S leaders and India leadership team on follow up.
- Be an active member and share best practices with other members of the TE global EHS&S community.
- Report all EHS&S data as required by TE and applicable legal requirements on internal & external portals for managing locations.
- Ensure additional EHS&S expertise and resources are identified as needed and requests made to India leadership team.
- Encourage management recognition of behaviors and results which drive EHS&S improvements across managing sites or business units.
- Advise and support the India leadership team on aspects of TE acquisitions and assist in developing and implementing EHS&S acquisition integration plans.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Degree, post graduate qualification or equivalent qualification in a safety or environmental discipline.
- Professional EHS&S Certification preferred, e.g. NEBOSH, Chartered Safety Practitioner, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, etc.
- 12+ years of EHS&S experience, at least 5 of which must be in an EHS&S leadership role preferably in a multi-national company.
- Experience in a technical, engineering or manufacturing role preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of EHS&S India legal requirements.
- Demonstrated ability in conducting EHS&S audits and inspections.
