Job Overview
As Logistics Control Tower Lead, you will be responsible for executing model Control Tower for enhancing service level, improving operational efficiency and visibility. This role is responsible for complete oversight of supply chain operations across different legs viz. Inbound, Outbound, Warehousing, Port transfers and Last Mile deliveries. The Logistics Control Tower Lead will not only need to ensure smooth and timely functioning of supply chain across various locations in the globe but also need to help in providing un - parallel delivery experience to the customers/ cross functional teams. This role will proactively collaborate with different stake holders to drive efficiency in logistics operations.
Job Responsibilities:
Tasks Summary:
- Assist in control tower setup from design to implementation
- Execute Control Tower Operations - Day-to-day issue identification, raise flags and assist in resolution
- Support the global/regional/BU logistics team by providing visibility and insights by setting up process adherence checks and publishing metrics and highlighting delays
- Manage reporting/ dashboards on operational level - clean, organize, prepare data, information, & results
- Conduct complete RCA on fill rate issues and publish reports
- Maintain close cross functional stakeholder management
- Ensure process adherence and follow - up with ground team to provide an unparalleled delivery experience to customers/ cross functional teams
Real Time Shipment Visibility & Delivery Reliability
- Provide ETA Visibilty, highlight delayed shipments and responsible for resolution by coordinating with global/regional/BU logistics/ Freight Forwarders team
- Highlight and ensure action for Shipment ready in DC for pick-up but over-due from FFW side
- Highlight and ensure action for Shipments waiting in FFW DC waiting to get vessel space
- Highlight and ensure action for Shipments arrived at destination port, over-due on waiting for FFW to move it to DC
- Monitor and ensure improvement on lanes performing distinctly better / worse on average lead times vs past data
- Monitor and ensure improvement on FFW operations performing distinctly better / worse on average time vs past data
- Monitor and ensure improvement in transit times used by planning teams
- Highlight and ensure action by inbound team (DC, FFW) if inbound volume spike in certain time period exceeds past average
- Highlight by-BU, by-lane FCL container fill rate. Ask for action plans from Packaging CoE group to increase fill rate
- Monitor and ensure improvement in In-bound transit damage; to be reviewed as part of FFW performance drumbeat
- Highlight and ensure action for Top lanes with highest air shipments
- Highlight and ensure action for Top lanes with highest LCL shipments (work with planners to convert them to FCL’s)
Freight Cost Reduction and Operational Efficiency
- Monitor Mode mix of top lanes and highlight deviations (vs plan)
- Monitor freight spend of top lanes and highlight deviations(vs plan)
- Monitor Premium freight trend and highlight repeat offenders(vs plan)
- FF data quality improvement and Non-compliant bookings
- Highlight high CO2 lanes
- Highlight repeat offenders for low container utilization
- Reduce demurrage and detentions by improving lead time deviations vs SLA
- Highlight laggards in productivity improvement
Warehousing and Inventory Control
- Monitor, provide support and guidance in case of any lag. on performance for different locations – DCs with.
- High inventory and stocks with high ageing
- History of safety breaches
- Repeat offenders in OTIF breaches & High dock to stock ratio
- Low inventory accuracy
Risk Management, Disaster Planning and Alerts
- Ensure disaster prevention and recovery
- Facilitate mitigation plans on Port, Lane congestion situation by coordinating Planners to make shipping calls basis this insight
- Facilitate actions on risk events available through public domain, freight forwarders, etc.
- Facilitate resolution regarding capacity issues for executing carriers leading to longer waits; vessel stuck at ports / ocean
- Create exception Analytic for driving logistics performance.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor or master’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration or related field
- Minimum 5-10 years direct experience in Logistics & Supply Chain e.g. Supply chain design, logistics, control tower, procurement or Operations. Global exposure is a plus.
- High level understanding of supply chain concepts- Network, Transportation, Warehousing & Inventory etc.
- Prior working knowledge in Analytics using Analytic tools will be an added advantage
- Must have- Excellent MS PowerPoint and Excel skills
- Preferable- Power BI, Tableau, SAP, SQL
- APICS, Lean certification, IBF or equivalent certification is a plus
