Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Procurement Business Process Teams develop and deploy procurement processes, systems, reporting and audits compliance. They drive continuous improvement throughout the procurement function, develop and maintain procurement systems, tools and databases such as vendor master files, e-procurement quotation tool, procurement web page, supplier portal, SharePoint and the like. They conduct regular external benchmarking to stay abreast of procurement best practices, run procurement reports and perform analysis to identify trends, opportunities, threats and needed course correction as well as lead facilitation of procurement training and development.


Essential Competencies:

o    Mechanical Parts:
•    Expertise in precision mechanical manufacturing process (tooling, stamping, molding, machining, die-casting etc.); Knowledge on surface treatment process (electro plating, chemical plating, coating etc.); Proficient in mathematical modeling, cost and data analysis, project management and tools such as Power BI, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PPT, SQL and Risk Solver (Database and Statistical Tools)
•    Strong knowledge of manufacturing process knowledge, mechanical & tooling design, functional test for product
•    Preferred candidates would have worked in roles like Process or Manufacturing Engineer on stamping, molding, machining, diecasting, plating, mold designer, industry & value engineer, quality engineer
•    Strong understanding of Should Cost Modeling drivers
o    Electronics Parts:
•    Expertise in PCBA manufacturing process (SMT, ICT & FT); Proficient in mathematical modeling, cost and data analysis, project management and tools such as Valor, Power BI, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PPT, SQL and Risk Solver (Database and Statistical Tools)
•    Strong knowledge of PCB Design, Functional Test and ICT test for product, test and tooling development and Mechanical design
•    Preferred candidates would have worked in roles like PCB Process Engineer, PCB Designer, Value Engineer & Quality Engineer
•    Strong understanding of Should Cost Modeling Drivers



o    Mechanical Parts:
•    Minimum Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Engineering / Electrical Engineering
•    5+ years’ experience in manufacture of mechanical components and assemblies at contract manufacturers or ODMs or OEMs
•    Preferred candidates would have worked in connector or cable industry
o    Electronics Parts:
•    Minimum Bachelors’ Degree in Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Engineering
•    5+ years’ experience in manufacture of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) and electro-mechanical assemblies at Contract manufacturers or ODMs or Captive SMT lines. 
•    Preferred candidates would have worked in connector or cable industry

Job Description:



  Set up “should be cost model” to reduce the cost and find saving opportunity to win more business.


 General Responsibilities

•    Oversee the development of mathematical cost models that reflect up to date information of various cost drivers such as material rates, labor rates, equipment rates and other overheads such as inventory carrying costs, SG&A and profits
•    Apply quantitative and statistical algorithms along with industry standard formulas to create these models that can help with creating should costing (activity-based costing)
•    Maintain cost models by performing market research and trend analysis for commodities and raw materials to keep track of market dynamics (Inflationary/deflationary, supply side and demand side viewpoint) and continuously update internal cost databases
•    Socialize cost drivers with various stakeholder groups and subject matter experts to ensure close alignment across different functional departments
•    Analyze and identify potential architectural challenges (NUDDs - New, Unique, Difficult, and Different) through working with Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) counterparts and assess feasibility right from product incubation through business award
•    Interact with subject matter experts paired with extensive market technology research to understand best practices in lean manufacturing
•    Engage with engineering colleagues to ensure that the cost align engineering standard of TE
•    Operate, Improve and Maintain should cost models by reflecting actual manufacturing process and embrace new technologies adopted in the manufacturing line
•    Employ data driven approach to improve cost estimation accuracy and negotiation efficiency, and drive better communications with TE internal teams and external partners
•    Identify and execute cost reduction opportunities in product design and manufacturing process, ensuring cost targets are met
•    Create fact-based report to senior leadership team in support of TE global supply chain and procurement decisions, covering concept to design phase and phases in end-to-end product lifecycle
•    Apply advanced manufacturing concepts, such as DFM (Design for Manufacturing), DFA (Design for Assembly) and DTC (Design to Cost), in cost management and align with internal teams for implementation
•    Responsible for cost & risk assessment for new technologies and timely communication to management by conducting market intelligence analysis, tracking commodity price trend, and managing product cost variations 
•    Strategic thinker with strong execution skills
•    Work autonomously and act as an effective team member, exhibiting good inter-personal skills, Drive followership
•    Strong attention to detail and ability to identify opportunities to drive improvements
