Business Unit & Job Overview

 

TE Connectivity’s Engineering Project Management Teams manage cross functional engineering projects. They work with Product Management, Sales, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, and other functions across TE to assure projects meet financial, schedule and customer expectations. They are responsible for defining and creating project schedules, portfolio management, communication and execution of programs, identifying resource constraints and working with management for resolution, while adhering to LeanPD processes.

The Industrial business unit of TE is part of the Industrial Solutions segment (Industrial Solutions) and is a world leader in the design of components and electrical solutions that are used for applications in extreme and rigorous environments with a focus in the industrial markets, including factory automation, intelligent buildings and rail. 

The role & responsibilities

 

The Sr Manager of Project Management is a global role in the management team of the Industrial Relays, Passives, Switches & Filters (RPSF) Sub-Vertical ($500+ million annual revenue). The Project Management team is a 20 FTE global team with professionals in all engineering hubs (China, India, and multiple locations in Europe).

The role will provide execution, change management, and thought leadership to operational transfer activities and engineering productivity. The global lead drives portfolio & project management, standardization, risk mitigation, digital tools, compliance, and TEOA (continuous improvement).  As a leader you will leverage robust data analytics to identify and implement innovation solutions across the business unit that increase productivity, mitigate risks and improve the customer experience. 

 

Functional Job Responsibilities


•    Lead change and standardization across the organization to drive efficiencies that lead to cultural, structural, process, and talent agility. Build an end-to-end ownership culture within all project management disciplines across the Sub-Vertical.
•    Establish a PMO culture around data analytics – identifying the most meaningful data to collect, analyzing it, drawing conclusions, and presenting those conclusions as data intelligence to provide insight and drive innovative solutions for the business.
•    Provide robust risk mitigation reporting and tools to drive early risk identification and escalation of unforeseen risks.
•    Enable the right amount of project visibility and schedule execution with stakeholders and customers to create and deliver winning products.  
•    Identify, develop, and effectively deploy tools to enable resource and portfolio improvement management with cross-functional stakeholders (Sales, Engineering, PM, OPS). 
•    Develop and deliver the data collection and reporting metrics for KPIs.
•    Lead the adoption of best-in-class product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions that enable faster time to market for our products.  

           

Leadership Job Responsibilities

•    The PMO leader is responsible for the end-to-end project management for the RPSF business overseeing all of the engineering & major operations projects globally along all stages from start till handover to the final owner (e.g., point of release production at a manufacturing site & market introduction). 
•    Set relevant and actionable performance goals for your team aligned to the business priorities with a focus on developing capabilities and increasing efficiency and productivity. 
•    Relentlessly drives Delivery on Commitments with the specific focus on Launch on Time and with “zero” customer negative impact
•    Embraces the Continuous Improvement paradigm and achieves YoY productivity by continuously eliminating waste, improving team’s focus and prioritization, upgrading talent / improving capabilities, and expanding team in low-cost countries
•    Drive organization effectiveness by structuring the organization in a way that best enables the execution of the business strategy, maximizes resource efficiency and productivity
•    Build a high performing team to support the business now and in the future by identifying organization skillset/role gaps and plans for filling those gaps, assessing talent fit 
 

Candidate's profile

 

•    Bachelor's Degree in engineering is Required - Master's Degree or higher preferred.
•    Industry knowledge of industrial communications and machinery market, high-tech industry and/or Internet of Things (IoT) a plus.  
•    Minimum of 10+ years’ experience managing engineering programs and projects, PMO leadership experience preferred.
•    PMP or equivalent certification is required


•    Proven track record to lead a global team in a highly matrix organization moving at a high pace
•    Strong business acumen with a thorough understanding of the interdependencies across the engineering, operations, plant manufacturing, and product management functions. 
•    Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, manage and inspire a diverse global team located in multiple regions and spread across multiple disciplines.
•    Integrated thinker, with a clear vision and direction for driving efficiency and productivity in an organization; Six Sigma and Lean methodology experience and certification is a plus.


•    Trained in change management practices with demonstrated experience in applying change management principles to successfully lead to the quick adoption of complex organizational changes.  
•    Strong collaboration and influencing skills, with a proven track record of forging excellent relationships across organizations and with senior management.
•    Outstanding communication and presentation skills. A convincing communicator with compelling perspectives that drive engagement and excitement
