Design Engineer Product Development (m/f/d)

What your background should look like

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a comparable field of study
  • At least 3 years of professional experience with development processes in the automotive environment and the corresponding quality requirements (QS9000ff; IATF 16949)
  • Experience in the areas of injection molding, stamping, bending and materials technology and in the design of complex components using CREO
  • Experience in FEM simulation, e.g. ANSYS
  • Experience in 3D tolerancing, e.g. 3DCS
  • Good knowledge of MS Office
  • Good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken
  • Knowledge in Design-To-Cost evaluation (basic business knowledge)
  • Commitment, ability to work in a team and flexibility 
  • Independent and goal-oriented way of working

Job Overview

Relay's Product Development defines and designs relays and high voltage contactors according to customer requirements from initial design to production product. Together with the laboratory engineer, the designer is responsible for defining the key features of new relays and designing the product. The designer accompanies his product at least until the start of the market launch.

What you will be doing

  • Development / design of electromechanical relays
  • Deriving the development goals from customer requirements 
  • Creation of the first design concepts from the specification requirements
  • Design of mechanical and electrical relay characteristics
  • Simulation of magnetic circuits, spring loads and bounce behavior
  • Preparation of documentation required by the valid development process
  • Planning and organization of the production of test samples
  • Support in the evaluation of laboratory tests accompanying the development process
  • Preparation of design FMEA's and cooperation in the preparation of process FMEA's
  • Support of qualifying tests during the prototype and series production phase
  • Support in quality and cost optimization measures accompanying series production
