Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products and introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication, and manufacturing ramp-up.

The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, solid models, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings, drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches, or notes, and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operations or product quality.

Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical engineering, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical, and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

 

 

Your main tasks:

 

  • Independent development / design of electromechanical components
  • Creation of documentation and drawings required according to the development process
  • Development in accordance with SPICE
  • Selection of suitable materials in line with the requirements defined in the specification sheet or customer specifications
  • Requirements management using ALM tools such as Codebeamer
  • Planning and initiation of verification activities as well as evaluation of results for concept and design validation
  • Participation in Design FMEAs and involvement in Process FMEAs
  • Coordination of qualification tests during prototype and series production phases
  • Support of quality and cost optimization activities during series production

Your ideal profile:

 

  • Degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering/Design, Precision Engineering or comparable (University of Applied Sciences / Technical University) or certified technician
  • Experience with development processes in the automotive environment and related quality requirements (QS9000ff; TS16949)
  • Several years of experience in manufacturing- and material-oriented design of plastic components
  • Excellent skills in designing complex components using Creo 4.0
  • Very good knowledge of creating technical drawings; GPS knowledge is an advantage
  • Good proficiency in MS Office
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken
  • Knowledge of Design-to-Cost evaluation (basic business administration skills)
  • High level of commitment, team spirit, and flexibility
  • Independent, structured, and goal-oriented working style
  • Confident and professional appearance when interacting with internal and external stakeholders

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of IEC 62196-2 and IEC 62196-3 standards
  • Experience in the development of charging inlets and complex mechatronic systems
  • Software and hardware development experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in R&D Engineering
