R&D ENGINEER (f/m/d)

Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

Tasks and Responsibilities

- Design and develop custom products, focusing on electromechanical relays and switchgear or specific elements of small and medium sized projects, considering performance and schedule.
- Participate in project meetings as a core member at various stages Concept, Design and Development.
- Adapt and reconfigure existing product designs in the context of performance enhancements, manufacturability improvements and cost reduction efforts.
- Create all required product documentation e.g. 3D models, drawings (Creo 7), bill of materials (EBOM), product and application specifications, DFMEAs (APIS), tolerance analysis and test plans and reports.
- Performing simulations e.g. filling studies (Moldflow Advisor) or strength analyses (Creo Simulate).
- Issuing release of products for production (RMS).
- Maintaining technical control of product related documentation via the change system (PDMLink).
- Support internal (in-house manufacturing) and external resources (suppliers, customers). 

Profile

- Engineer with a Master's degree in mechanical, manufacturing or electrical engineering or comparable education.
- 3-5 years of experience in engineering
- Experience with development processes in the automotive environment of the design of switching devices such as
- electro-mechanical relays or comparable products
- Good knowledge of quality standards in the automotive industry (QS9000ff; TS16949)
- Very good German and English communication skills, both written and spoken
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project, Visio
- Independent and goal-oriented way of working
- Commitment, ability to work in a team, communication skills and sense of responsibility
