Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Purchasing Teams are responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment and services, gather quotations, examine bids, and award contracts. They perform cost analysis and volume planning for commodities, evaluate vendor reliability and develop new supply sources where required. They coordinate purchasing activities with the manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. They also look for and recommend cost saving proposals including make vs. buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria as well as develop specifications for new contract orders.

This position is within the Procurement NPI ICT organization. The selected candidate will work within NPI's cross-functional project team and play a key role in coordinating and delivering new product development in ICT EMEA. In-depth knowledge of technology purchasing, negotiation, inventory management and continuous improvement is essential for the role.

Job Responsibilities

  • You will work within the cross-functional NPI project team and play a key role in coordinating and delivering new product development across the business.
  • Project team member Procurement NPI (manufacturing / procurement) to support the development of new projects in relation to processes, as well as associated tools/equipment and components.
  • End-to-end project execution and responsibility from project start to SOP.
  • Representing the function of CTM NPI in the interdisciplinary project team (regional and global, with business, engineering, finance and quality) in the development process of new products and processes and providing output and results according to LEANPD.
  • Overall coordination of the required manufacturing processes (shaping / stamping / assembly / purchased parts and processes), which can be carried out at internal suppliers or at external suppliers - focus on technology and procurement tasks.
  • Supporting PFMEA and manufacturing risk analysis focusing on the overall process together with AQE.
  • Assisting in the fulfilment of feasibility commitments to the customer
  • Consolidation of multiple suppliers to enable better pricing, lead time reduction TTM including proactive collaboration with supplier quality, engineering, product, and supply chain teams.
  • Initial assessment of tooling related requirements and concepts including customer and manufacturing requirements.
  • Detailed coordination with all competencies for project-specific specifications for internal and external requirements.
  •  Procurement responsibility for suppliers and sub-suppliers (pre- and post-RFQ) in coordination with series purchasing.
  • Provision of costs for calculation based on process-related technical inputs and product value stream.
  • Support of tools and equipment orders in all ICT Plant, creation of LOI, LON, PR, PO and WBS.
  • Tracking the timing of all tools and components: Creation of a project plan for all processes and components based on TE and customer schedules.
  • Support of all correction loops and discussions together with manufacturing engineering up to the final product release.
  • Investigate, support change management process in terms of impact on TTM, costs and quality.
  • Support of the ramp up phase
  • Leading and supporting the SOP at the final production site and arranging for the necessary support and aftercare by the suppliers
  • Strict adherence to the defined KPIs.

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in industrial, business engineering, technician/industrial foreman or similar with relevant professional experience.
  • At least 3 years of relevant sourcing/procurement experience
  • Initial experience in engineering in the automotive industry, preferably process or product technology or manufacturing technology for electronic or electromechanical components
  • Technical understanding and experience in tooling/forming/assembly and stamping processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, good interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to multitask
  • This position requires a highly motivated individual with excellent problem solving skills, good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to multitask
  • Basic knowledge of injection molding tools and thermoplastic molding and other manufacturing technologies
  • Proven track record of managing projects
  • Strong communication skills and experience working in a team
  • Basic knowledge of automotive standards (APQP, IATF 16949)
  • Negotiation skills, good presentation and conflict management skills
  • Good knowledge of SAP and MS Office, Power BI
  • Good knowledge of various payment terms.
  • Good knowledge of Jaggaer is a plus
  • Fluent in written and spoken German and English
  • driver's license
  • Willingness to travel (10-25%)
