Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer (m/f/d) to join our DATA Product Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical components and systems for data connectivity products, utilizing advanced CAD tools, simulation software, and TE's engineering processes to deliver innovative solutions that meet customer requirements and industry standards.

 

The position is initially offered on a one-year fixed-term contract, with the prospect of subsequent permanent employment.

Job Requirements

  • Design and develop mechanical components (plastic and sheet metal components) for data connectivity products including connectors, cable assemblies, and related hardware
  • Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D technical drawings using Creo Parametric
  • Familiar with GPS and 3d-PDF drawing creation
  • Perform mechanical simulations including stress analysis, thermal analysis, and dynamic studies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, manufacturing, and quality assurance
  • Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications
  • Support prototype development and testing activities
  • Generate and maintain engineering documentation and design specifications
  • Participate in product validation and qualification processes
  • Support manufacturing and production teams during product launch phases
  • Review dimensional and test reports and provide engineering approvals for tools and products
  • Work closely with global teams (Product Management, Sales, Manufacturing, Quality)

What your background should look like

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering discipline. Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years of mechanical design experience in electronics or connectivity industry
  • Proven experience in product development lifecycle from concept to production
  • CAD Software: Proficiency in Creo Parametric (essential) - minimum 3 years hands-on experience
  • Manufacturing Processes: Understanding of injection molding, stamping, machining, and assembly processes
  • Materials: Knowledge of engineering plastics, metals, and plating processes
  • Experience with data connectivity products
  • Experience with rapid prototyping technologies (3D printing)
  • Understanding of automotive or industrial connector requirements
  • Very good knowledge of German and English language
