Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Purchasing Teams are responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment and services, gather quotations, examine bids, and award contracts. They perform cost analysis and volume planning for commodities, evaluate vendor reliability and develop new supply sources where required. They coordinate purchasing activities with the manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. They also look for and recommend cost saving proposals including make vs. buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria as well as develop specifications for new contract orders.

 

  • Lead and develop the commodity team ESS with 2 members in EMEA
  • Develop and implement Equipment supply base strategy for all Industrial and Communication EMEA Plants
  • Develop Regional Strategy for Engineering Services (X_BU)
  • Drive ESS Regional Digitalization Strategy (eQuote, Supplier Capability and performance Matrix)  
  • Drive the EMEA standard equipment purchasing strategy, including search, develop and implement new supplier
  • Analysis of performance gaps and identify cost savings opportunities
  • Preparation and leadership of negotiations
  • Negotiate region wide contracts and manage compliance, ensure adherence of team to all TE policies,
  • Identify and ramp-up competitive new suppliers
  • Actively manage sourcing pipeline (new projects, transfers) with the team
  • Cost structure analysis, control of quotes in relation to total cost
  • Drive process automation and simplification 
  • Ensure timely resolution of all operational procurement tasks within team, e.g., awarding, system data maintenance, negotiation of contractual agreements
  • Proactive early involvement in commodity related projects, ensure timely implementation

What your background should look like:

  • University degree, or equivalent
  • Experienced Manager with strong methodology/strategic knowledge as well as operational/tactical know-how
  • Leadership experience and strong change management / organization development skills, experience of leading a remote Organization is a plus
  • Knowledge of regional and global supplier base of commodity group
  • Track record of successful negotiations in the context of the automotive industry
  • Strong background on strategic purchasing fundamentals in a global environment is beneficial (seven steps of strategic sourcing, C.P.M qualification) 
  • Manufacturing experience is required, a technical background is a plus
  • Experience with TE’s requirements is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English, additional languages are a plus
  • Advanced SAP knowledge
