Job Overview

This position reports to the VP EMIA Operations and is responsible for executing the EMIA operations strategy, establishing and developing Automotive EMIA Manufacturing Engineering team and drive consistent performance and excellence in alignment with business growth objectives.

In this role, you will work closely with operational leaders, engineering leaders, product management leaders within Automotive, and segment/corporate manufacturing technology leaders to lead EMIA Manufacturing Engineering initiatives and improve processes/outcomes in a high-growth, high complexity environment undergoing a major business transformation for manufacturing technology.

Job Requirements

  • Lead manufacturing engineering process reengineering for Automotive EMIA Operations.
  • Lead sustaining engineering processes, aligned to TE Best expectations.
  • Establish and implement new and stable manufacturing processes to a market leader level.
  • Overall responsibility to provide manufacturing concepts for all new and existing products.
  • Drive digital and AI tools implementation to upgrade manufacturing capabilities.
  • Develop new manufacturing concepts and apply new manufacturing technology to improve performance such as ongoing flexible automation strategies.
  • Create a strategy roadmap for all manufacturing engineering (ME) processes (Molds, Dies & Tool shop assembly, etc) .
  • Optimize tooling costs and time to market with advanced design concepts, additive manufacturing, reverse engineering etc.
  • Improve the design for manufacturing in collaboration with Product Engineering, Quality, Operations, CoE, etc.
  • Support all production lines’ migration/expansion activities from manufacturing engineering perspective.
  • Define flexible equipment, tooling and floor space to improve capital efficiency by partnering with plant managers/operations leaders and CoEs.
  • Fulfil CER expectations on concept design and successful industrialization from manufacturing engineering side.
  • Build a strong EMIA manufacturing engineering team through 6B talent strategy (Build, Buy, Balance, Borrow, Bounce and Bind) .
  • Develop and maintain programs and policies to ensure a highly effective and motivated team, coach and develop the team by fostering an environment of continuous learning, and encouraging regional collaboration in a geographically and culturally dispersed organization with a strong view on continuous improvement.
  • Establish the KPIs to measure success and continuous tracking of required skills in current and future business opportunities.
  • Other operations engineering projects per business growth needs.

What your background should look like

  • Bachelor’s degree major in engineering, management, electronics or equivalent.
    • Preferred qualifications include:
      • Master’s degree.
      • Experience in engineering and Operations and/or commercial experience.
      • Operations transformation and technology leadership.
      • Functional experience with SAP and other related technology systems/IT tools.
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years experience in leadership roles within a manufacturing organization leading >500 employees, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial and operational performance data required.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to drive change and accountability in a fast-paced, international matrix organization.
  • Leads across cultural, geographic, business, and functional boundaries. 
  • Ability to energize and motivate people and to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and lead as a change agent and hold people accountable for high standards of performance.
  • Proven track record of creating, implementing and/or sustaining a lean operation within a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in developing, implementing and improving key performance indicator metrics through strong data analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge and practice of Quality Systems and Problem Solving (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken, other languages such as Germany, Spanish, Chinese etc is a nice plus.
