Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

Roles & Responsibilities

Supervisor R&D Product Development Engineering is responsible to oversees a team of product development engineers. This position drives development of Low voltage / High Voltage / Charge Inlet / Infotainment Connectors.

  • Supervises and supports development engineers in Product Design.
  • Facilitates development processes, coordinate for materials selection and component integration
  • Convert customer and market requirements into product design.
  • Responsible for release of Product Design, CAD models & Drawings
  • Apply Six Sigma / Quality methodologies to design, development and delivery of technology products and process.
  • Drive to implements DFM (molding, stamping & assembly) methodologies to standardize product designs and reduce cost
  • Creates and monitors development plans; communicates working activities/status to team, management, sales and operations.
  • Work closely with customer/sales/Project Management in getting the VOC (voice of customer), 
  • Ensure Time & Resource Management during Product Design / Development
  • Responsible for hiring, skill development and performance management of team.

Desired Candidate Profile


  • Min 7 years (for BE / B.Tech from Mechanical stream or equivalent) of relevant experience
  • Min 5 years (for M Tech from Mechanical stream or equivalent) of e relevant experience 
  • Working knowledge of product development (Processes, Approaches, Tools and Techniques) & Validation
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing process like injection Mold, plating, assembly & High-speed stamping
  • Working knowledge to apply Six Sigma / DFSS  methodology to design, development, and delivery of technology products and process.
  • Working knowledge in use of CAD systems (CREO Part modeling & Sheet Metal)
  • Interpretation of simulation results & translating into product design
  • Working knowledge in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) & FMEA 
  • Proficient in Tolerance stack-up and GD&T
  • Ability to generate design concepts and solve design problem 
  • Working knowledge in prototyping methods
  • Working knowledge in Manufacturing process (Molding / Stamping / Plating)
  • Understanding of linear and non-linear analysis
  • Working knowledge of product life cycle.
