Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

What your background should look like:


As a Staff R&D Product dev. Engineer, you will be responsible for managing Pressure Sensor Platform developments requiring electrical design, calibration and testing of sensor products incorporating electronic packaging, ICs, Mixed Signal ASICs and core sensing technology advancements to grow the pressure sensor portfolio serving the Automotive and Industrial & Commercial Transportation (ICT) markets.
The Staff R&D Product dev. Engineer will engage and work with internal cross-functional engineering teams across the globe as well as collaborate with internal and external technical partners such as MEMS fab/foundry partners. He/She will need to be comfortable, experienced, and adept working across time zones, geographical and organizational boundaries as well as ambiguity.
The Staff R&D Product dev. Engineer will leverage a structured and systematic approach, applying best practices and Lean Product Development principles such as Front Loading, Risk Detection & Countermeasures and Set Based Concurrent Engineering … all to ensure programs meet technical, performance & product cost requirements, are completed on time and within the project budget.
The ideal candidate would be a former Senior Pressure Sensor Design Engineer/Technologist or Senior IC/ASIC Designer with demonstrated pressure sensor technology and platform development experience. Also having experience of design for automotive applications in Lean Product Development and DFSS frameworks, he/she can be proficient in ISO 26262 Automotive Functional Safety Standards, FIT analysis and ASIC architectures (hardware and software) to meet ASIL requirements.



  • Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Integrated Circuit Design, Physics)
  • 7-10+ years of technical experience including full lifecycle developments (initial research & development though series launch) with automotive electronics, integrated circuits, and release of Pressure Sensor products/Platforms.
  • Experience in all aspects of the design, development, and deployment of pressure sensors with MEMS sense elements, ICs and Mixed Signal ASICs for Automotive Applications. Must include System Specification, Architectural Design, Analog & Digital Design, Calibration Configuration & Algorithms, Functional Verification, Circuit Design & Synthesis, Mixed-Signal Verification, Physical Design, Physical Verification & Signoff, Fabrication, Packaging & Test, Qualification & Release
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise with ISO 26262 Automotive Functional Safety Standards, FIT analysis and ASIC architectures (hardware and software) to meet ASIL requirements.
  • Experience with supplier management and collaborating with technical partners such as MEMS & Mixed Signal ASIC design/foundry partners, conducting regular design reviews, process & product audits, quality reviews, etc.
  • Comprehensive technical understanding of pressure sensors, various core pressure sensing technologies (i.e. silicon piezoresistive MEMS, bonded semiconductor strain gage, bonded foil strain gage, ceramic piezoresistive, variable capacitance), signal conditioning ASICs, calibration and compensation methods, testing methods
  • Experience in working with global technology and product development teams in a cross-functional, multi-site environment to deliver projects with multiple dependencies and constraints
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with a hands-on practical approach and ability to make decisions when presented with a series of challenges, conflicts and constraints
  • Ability to drive to big picture goals and milestones while valuing and maintaining strong attention to the details
  • Willingness to travel as required, ~25%
