Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

Job Roles & Responsibilities

Roles & Responsibilities :

Interface with the customer to discuss technical requirements, Design progress and verification/validation results – Lead the technical communication with regards to current & rotary sensor applications
Develop a strong technical customer intimacy to translate customer application needs into technical product specification.
Support project execution through participation in design review meetings and core team meetings
Conduct simulation, build and test prototypes to confirm with data that the selected technology fits expected performance and customer functional requirements
Lead the technical development of the sensor product by working closely with the other functions including Project Management, Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Quality and Reliability.
When needed, design the complete electronic assembly (schematics, layout, Sense Element/ASIC selections and configuration, thermal calculations, Design for Manufacturability and Test including ICT test & Calibration specifications, DFMEA) and support production implementation providing critical inputs to Software Development, PFMEA and Control Plan.
Keep track of component, PCB assembly and product manufacturing (including sub-contractors, supplier) and conduct deep-dive technical reviews when needed.
Perform ASIL-oriented and safety-oriented analysis; requirements decomposition with respect to ASIL tailoring; ASIC architecture optimization, hardware safety requirements, software safety requirements; overall product/system validation and verification plans. Expertise in system design with and without ASIL decomposition
Work closely with internal global cross-functional engineering teams and subject matter experts as well as external technical partners such as design houses and fab/foundry partners to plan and develop project scope, deliverables.
Perform benchmarking of competitor products and conduct technology and IP searches related to all aspects of electrical design of current, rotary sensors

Required Competency

✓ Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Integrated Circuit Design, Physics)
✓ 12+ years of technical experience including full lifecycle developments (initial research & development though series launch) with automotive electronics, integrated circuits, and release of Current & Rotary Sensor products/Platforms.
✓ Experience in all aspects of the design, development, and deployment of Current & Rotary sensors with ICs and Mixed Signal ASICs for Automotive Applications. Must include System Specification, Architectural Design, Analog & Digital Design, Calibration Configuration & Algorithms, Functional Verification, Circuit Design & Synthesis, Mixed-Signal Verification, Physical Design, Physical Verification & Signoff, Fabrication, Packaging & Test, Qualification & Release
✓ In-depth knowledge and expertise with ISO 26262 Automotive Functional Safety Standards, FIT analysis and ASIC architectures (hardware and software) to meet ASIL requirements.
✓ Experience with supplier management and collaborating with technical partners such as Mixed Signal ASIC design/foundry partners, conducting regular design reviews, process & product audits, quality reviews, etc
