STAFF MEACHANICAL ENGINEER
Job Overview
TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.
RESPONSBILITIES:
• Responsible for new products and mechanical parts design for Position magnetic sensor ( xMR, Hall effect, eddy current etc.) targeting global market, including chip package, encoder mechanical and product architecture design.
• Interface with the customer along with System Application and PM with regards to mechanical outline and interface design requirements
• Communicate with internal and external engineering teams for mechanical design, validation, improvement and optimization.
• Support production team / purchasing team during new product launched, including parts releasing and qualification of supplier and review FAI.
• Maintain existing products by support production with troubleshooting via working with internal and external colleagues.
• Conduct simulation, build and test prototypes to confirm with data that the selected technology fits expected performance and customer functional requirements
• Working closely with the cross-function teams for project execution including Product management, Project Management, Electrical, Manufacturing, Quality and Reliability.
• Apply DFSS tools during design process, especially pugh concept selection, QFD, DFMEA, Design for Manufacturability and reliability, DOE etc., and support production implementation providing critical inputs to Flow Chat, Work Instruction, PFMEA and Control Plan.
• Keep track of mechanical parts, sub-assemblies and product manufacturing (including sub-contractors, supplier) and conduct deep-dive technical reviews when needed.
• Perform benchmarking of competitor products and conduct technology and IP searches related to all aspects of Mechanical design of Position sensors.
• Support, maintain and document Mechanical design.
• Full lifecycle application development in accordance with TE standards.
DESIRED SKILLS:
• Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Material Science, Physics)
• 10+ years of technical experience including full lifecycle developments (initial research & development though series launch) with mechanical, and release of Position Sensor products/Platforms.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as Solidworks, Creo to design product, piece part and fixture. With Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing knowledge to optimize design drawing.
• Experience in all aspects of the design, development, and deployment of Position sensors with Mechanical/Physical Design (chip package, machining, plastic injection, metal tooling, casting, additive manufacturing etc.), Physical Verification & Signoff, Fabrication, Packaging & Test, Qualification & Release
• Good knowledge of material science such as magnet, stainless steel, steel, plastics, adhesives, epoxy; good Design for Manufacturability/Automation/Reliability, knowledge about welding, bonding, Injection Mold, casting and surface finishing process.
• Understands the steps to take a design from concept to mass production and ability to formulate DOE and generate test reports.
• knowledge with EMC and Hazloc product Standards, IECEx, ATEX, NEC, CCC for design compliance
• Comprehensive technical understanding of Position sensors various core sensing technologies (i.e. AMR, GMR, TMR, Hall Effect, Eddy Current etc.) reliability testing methods
• Exceptional fluency in English
• Willingness to travel as required, ~10%
