Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.


Automotive Industry offers products for vehicle electrification systems like chassis systems, convenience applications, driver information, infotainment solutions, miniaturization solutions, motor, and powertrain applications etc. The TE Automotive BU is focused on developing new and improved vehicle architecture approaches to efficiently address these challenges in Connectivity from power to propulsion and safety.

Role Objective

Design & Development of automotive wireless antenna products.


  • Responsible for mechanical design of Automotive Wireless products based on customer requirements.

  • Responsible to carry out detailed mechanical design work including 3D modelling, Proposal / detail drawings for costing / production, performing FEA simulation and preparing design verification / product validation plan per requirement.

  • Responsible for choosing standard parts, features, material as per internal guidelines which would meet the internal / customer target process and cost.

  • Responsible for preparing and presenting design reviews per manufacturability, update design per suggestion and keep record.

  • Responsible for carrying out design change requests in a timely manner / own the product responsibility

  • Responsible for optimizing a stable Process Flow for new projects and improving existing ones

  • Responsible for modifications to the product as it goes through the different phases such as: Concept, Detailing, Design verification, Tooling, Evaluation and Validation

  • Ability to work during US working hours, which translates to evening and night-time IST.



  • B.E/B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering / MTech (equivalent)

  • Knowledge about various phases of product realization and product development

  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art design tools such as Creo Parametric, NX, ANSYS, Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing (GD&T), Tolerance Stack-up Analysis, electrical & electronic design, DFMEA and Design related calculations.

  • Exposure to various manufacturing processes (including injection molding, stamping, plating, die-casting, component assembly, jigs & fixture etc.) is preferred.

  • Experience with connectors or similar Electro-mechanical products preferred.

  • Additional know-how on FEA preferred.

  • Additional know-how on RF is an added advantage.


  • 4+ years of experience in Concept Design and Development of products preferably in Plastic and Sheet metal parts required. Experience in Wireless or Connector Industry will be an added advantage.

  • Good professional experience in NX or Creo software for 2D and 3D CAD development required.

  • Good professional experience in ANSYS software for Mechanical FEA simulations required.

  • Ability to understand specifications for validation of automotive components required.

  • Good knowledge on manufacturing processes and Evaluation of manufactured components required.

  • Good knowledge about connector fundamentals and their applications preferred.

  • Strong knowledge about Tolerance stack-up, GD&T, DFMEA and DVP required.

  • Exposure to sealing plastic components for various IP ratings will be an added advantage.

  • Good Conceptual, problem solving and Analytical Skills (8D, why why analysis and Fish Bone)

  • Good knowledge in Product Life Cycle management.

  • Capable of supporting Multiple Projects simultaneously.

  • Basic knowledge about fixtures used for product validation (IP and Vibration level etc.,) based on application will be an added advantage.
