Job Overview
We are looking for an engineer to join the Ruggedized Fiber Optics team to work on product development, design changes, manufacturing feasability, and engineering activities linked to RFO products. The role will focus on helping the team deliver practical, robust engineering solutions for fibre optic connectors, termini, cable assemblies, and related rugged fibre optic products.
This role is intended for someone with strong CAD capability, ideally with Creo experience, who can work with design updates, drawing changes, product extensions, engineering quotes, and technical problem solving. They should be a self starter, able to manage changing priorities, and comfortable working with remote sites and external partners when needed.
Job Requirements
- Engage product development and design activities for rugged fibre optic products, including connectors, termini, cable assemblies, and related components.
- Create, update, and maintain CAD models and engineering drawings, with Creo experience preferred.
- Work on Engineering Change Requests and Engineering Change Notices, including drawing updates, product extensions, and technical review of change requirements.
- Liaise with manufacturing plant locations to engage on product builds, process feedback, and production readiness.
- Work with the team on prototype builds, product build activity, test builds, and pre release NPI builds where required.
- Assist with design verification and qualification activities, including test plans, test requests, lab, and build.
- Participate in design reviews, DFMEA, PFMEA, and other engineering readiness activities.
- Work on requests for product extensions, drawing changes, engineering quotes, and part costing activities where required.
- Work with cross functional teams to identify practical design and process improvements that improve manufacturability, cost, and efficiency.
- Communicate clearly within a team environment to ensure alignment, clarity of purpose, and customer satisfaction.
What your background should look like
Critical Experience
- Experience in mechanical design, product design, or product development.
- Strong CAD experience, preferably Creo.
- Experience creating or updating engineering drawings and engaging in engineering change activity.
- Fibre optic, connector, cable assembly, electronic, optoelectronic, or similar product experience would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of tolerance analysis and design for manufacturability.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Ability to work on prototype parts, model shop requests, and build activity.
- Ability to work across functions, sites, and priorities in a fast paced environment.
Preferred Competencies
- Creo CAD capability.
- Experience with rugged fibre optics, fibre optic connectors, termini, or cable assemblies.
- Some experience with fibre optic systems and integration is preferred.
- Experience working with component sourcing or supplier engagement.
- SAP experience.
- Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn new technologies.
- Good organisation skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Relevant design, product development, manufacturing engineering, or sustaining engineering experience.
- CAD experience is required, with Creo preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
- ITAR requirement applies, as specified for this requisition.
Travel : Travel may be required based on business needs and project requirements.

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $90,000 – $134,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
