Staff Product Development Engineer - Wireless

Job Overview

The TE North America Wireless Team is looking for an experienced leader in wireless communication to join their team in Auburn Hills, Michigan.  The NA Wireless Team develops antennas and amplifiers primarily in the 0.5 MHz – 8 GHz range for the transportation industry.  Development is done both at the component level and whole vehicle level.  

Job Responsibilities

-    Technical lead in new project acquisition. Coordinate specifications with stakeholders
-    Lead antenna design/development with a cross-functional team
-    Lead antenna design concept and prototypes including simulation, assembly, tuning and testing
-    Provide product design proposals and engineering data to the customers with the understanding of business strategy, product advantages, manufacturing technology background and cost structure
-    Prepare engineering timing schedules, align cross-functional deliverables and integrate engineering timing with program schedules.
-    Direct the technical aspects of projects.  
-    Identify the development strategy for new products and maintain product development roadmap.
-    Lead end-to-end new product developments while meeting engineering targets and deliverable (quality, delivery timing, performance, product BOM Costs).
-    Complete technical documents, including design specification, test report, engineering presentation
-    Act as TE and customer advocate

What your background should look like:

Qualifications – Required
-    10+ years of experience in the development, manufacturing and testing of RF devices.  Antenna development experience is a must.
-    Highly motivated, a quick learner, and able to work independently inside and outside areas of expertise
-    Ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing, and quality.
-    Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics or Similar.
-    Experience with antenna development in transportation industry or similar.
-    Experience using MATLAB, and electromagnetic simulation software like HFSS, FEKO or Microwave Studio.
-    Experience using vector network analyzer to make S-parameter measurements
-    Experience with PCB Layout and Schematics.
-    Ability to work in a global environment, able to collaborate with individuals across geographies
-    Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
-    Ability to solve problems cross-functionally.

Qualifications – Desired but not required
-    Experience with AM/FM vehicle integrated antennas
-    Leadership or management experience in a technical role.
