The Supplier Quality Engineer drives the identification, analysis, and resolution of supplier and customer quality issues through audits, supplier development, and structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D.
The role ensures sustainable corrective actions and long-term supplier performance through close collaboration with Customers, Suppliers, and cross-functional teams including Planning, Sales, Procurement, Engineering, Product Management, and Finance.
This role is primarily home-based, with periodic on-site presence at TE plants and supplier locations as required for audits, sample investigations, and issue resolution.
YOUR MAIN TASKS:
- Conduct audits with existing and new suppliers to evaluate supplier performance
- Work with suppliers to resolve issues identified in audits and reviews.
- Train and up skill suppliers on quality standards, quality and LEAN tools, TE requirements, best practices, audit skills for tier 2 suppliers.
- Work with suppliers on KPIs, supplier performance, QBRs, audit results, corrective action plans, TE standards and requirements.
- Work with suppliers and customers as needed for 8D corrective actions to ensure that appropriate root cause, solution and verification takes place in timely and comprehensive manner.
- Work with customers as needed to resolve their reported concerns.
- Collaborate and partner with suppliers to ensure the supplier adheres to quality standards, is held accountable for meeting TE requirements/KPIs and has strategic improvement plans in place
- Communicate with suppliers and internal groups. Modify communications and style to deal appropriately with various hierarchical levels and to suit the sensitivity of the topic.
- Prepare and manage PPAP submissions to ensure compliance and risk-free product release
YOUR IDEAL BACKGROUND:
- Good English communication (written and oral)
- 5-8 years of experience and knowledge in the Quality profession (with Engineering related background)
- Accredited to conduct supplier audits in ISO 9015; VDA 6.3 and IATF 16949 standards
- 8D (eight disciplines) problem solving for customers and suppliers required
- Automotive and electrical manufacturing industries experienced is a plus
- University degree in Engineering is required (Electrical / Mechanical engineering, Process engineering, Manufacturing engineering preferred)
- Demonstrated experience of conducting supplier audits.
- Be able to understand processes, supplier contractual agreements & competitors as needed.
- Experience with quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, MSA, APQP, Control Plans.
- Structured problem-solving and root cause analysis mindset.
- Technical knowledge and demonstrated experience in quality engineering assignments.
- Decision-making under pressure and escalation management.
- Ability to pick up new information and processes quickly
- Proactive and self-starter
- Travel 25-40%
