Job Overview

TE Energy business unit in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina is seeking a Product Engineer to support both existing and new product development/improvement activities.  The primary focus will be on the improvement and maintenance of existing system data (drawings, BOM’s, routings, product requirements, specifications, SWI’s, label templates, packaging requirements, etc.) necessary to the flawless operation of today’s ERP systems.  However, this position interacts with every function within the company.  Business acumen is fundamental.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

As a TE Product Engineer I, a typical day may include:

  • Champion process and procedure changes through Lean activities to effect improvements in Data Integrity, Business Process throughput and error proofing.
  • Perform engineering evaluations including time studies and Value Stream Mapping to firmly define and document optimal processes.
  • Work closely with the Product Management, R&D and Manufacturing Engineering teams to help facilitate the smooth transition of new processes/products/machinery into the production factory.
  • Satisfactorily answer quality complaints that effect the production factory and update processes/products/machinery as needed.
  • Maintain system data as it pertains to Governmental compliance. (RoHS, REACH, UL, ISO)
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Field Service Technicians (FST’s) to assure design improvements and customer related changes or special requirements are integrated throughout the product documentation.
  • Maintain ERP system data accuracy including but not limited to: routers, Bills of material, item master data, to enable flawless execution of production.

 

What your background should look like...

  • Minimum 2 year degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (BS in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering Preferred)
  • 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment supporting ERP systems, sustaining engineering and new product introductions
  • Individual should be a self-starter with the ability to work in a fast change, high paced environment
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with Value Engineering/Value Analysis to drive product cost reduction
  • Experience communicating with external component suppliers and service providers
  • Must have experience with ERP system set up and use.
  • Experience with MFG Pro is a plus.
  • Experience with any/all is a plus: RoHS, REACH, UL, ISO
  • Experience with Energy Products is a plus.
