Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Sr. Product Engineer for Cable Assembly Infotainment

  • Must be a highly effective communicator
  • Good understand or strong knowledge SOC product architecture and specification analysis
  • Fundamental understanding of connector design and mechanical assembly and/or manufacturing techniques
  • Familiarity with S-parameter measurements, power accuracy, and digital modulation standards
  • Analyze and optimize FPD-Link III, GMSL and other environment link performance (RF link budget analysis) based on IEEE, OPEN, and other ICT standards. 
  • Familiarity with HFSS, CST, Microwave studio other RF tools is a plus
  • Evaluates customer requirements to determine design criteria necessary to develop electrical connectors in data speed and frequency’s 1GHz to 6 GHz.
  • The candidate shall have experience viewing and manipulating solid models (Pro-E CREO preferred) and have a proven capability in applying Mechanical principles within the design and review process with demonstrated creativity. 
  • Provides engineering data necessary for preparation of production drawings.  Establishes component dimensions and tolerances, appropriate materials and finishes, drawing notes, and necessary substantiating calculations.
  • Provides support to production in analyzing problems and implementing corrective actions throughout the launch cycle.
  • Design and develop new products for use in variety of standard and special applications. Design and development of new RF connectors, controlled impedance, high-speed and filtered connector products. The candidate should possess an understanding in the application of impedance matching principles, strength of materials, materials selection, design for vibration environments and the ability to apply those principles to unique mechanical design challenges.
  • Perform simulations, worst case circuit tolerance analysis, FMEAs, fault tree analysis and similar design disciplines.
  • Experience with RF, firmware, FPGAs, antennas, electro-magnetics/electro-magnetic compatibility.
  • Experience working in a lab environment (e.g. HW/SW interfaces/integration, creating/conducting configuration testing, troubleshooting, proficiency using general lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, meters and analyzers).
  • Experience with coaxial 50 ohms connectors.

Required software experience:

  • Solid-works: 2-3 years
  • connector design: 2-3 years
  • 2D/3D Pro-E Creo : 2-3  years
  • CST, ANSYS HFSS, ADS or similar Ansoft: 2-3 years

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS or MS degree in Engineering required (Electrical computer engineer discipline preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience in connector industry
  • Minimum 3 years experience with special cable assembly for infotainment products 
  • Good understanding and knowledge of electrical RF systems and high speed systems
  • Excellent english communication (written and verbal)
