Job Overview

Responsible for performing failure analysis on a variety of products including connectors, relays, modules, sensors and wiring harnesses.  Will work with other analysts using a team approach to determine root causes of failures.  Results must be documented in concise and accurate reports which are legally defensible. The engineer will perform hands-on testing Electrical, SEM and EDS, FTIR, X-ray, Visual examination, Cross-sections with Metallurgical and MicroHardness, and X-ray plating thickness to name a few. Collaboration with other analysts as well as with internal and external Customers is critical to successfully interpreting results and determining failure root causes.

The chemist/chemical engineer will initially be working in the areas of polymer testing, Rheology, FTIR, thermal analysis and plating related investigations. The applicant must have a strong desire to learn other hands on methods … to be able to handle the broad variety of failure analyses encountered.


3 to 5 years' experience desirable

Chemistry or Chemical Engineering degree required.

Attention to detail and an interest in hands-on testing

Comfortable interacting with Engineering, Reliability and Test personnel, and Customers

Strong problem-solving skills utilizing a disciplined approach

Excellent written and verbal technical communications skills a must

Knowledge of Lab and Automotive quality management systems is desired

Knowledge of any of the following fields will be considered a plus: Polymers, Molding, Polymer testing and Analysis (Rheology and/or Thermal), GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry), LC-MS (Liquid chromatography mass spectrometry), and plating chemistry.
