The Aerospace, Defense & Marine (AD&M) Business Unit is currently seeking a Sourcing

De‑Risking Project Manager as part of the Business Strategy / Supply Chain Transformation Office.

 

This role is responsible for leading cross‑functional sourcing de‑risking and supply continuity projects in close partnership with Category Managers and key stakeholders across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Supply Chain. The Sourcing De‑Risking Project Manager ensures that complex sourcing initiatives are well‑scoped, properly prioritized, and executed end‑to‑end, while taking ownership of defined sourcing activities including RFQ execution and supplier change implementation.

 

The successful candidate will drive projects that mitigate supplier, capacity, geopolitical, and cost risks, ensuring sourcing decisions meet business, operational, quality, financial, and customer requirements. This role combines strong project leadership with hands‑on sourcing execution to accelerate outcomes and reduce risk to the AD&M business.

 

This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Job Requirements

The Sourcing De‑Risking Project Manager is responsible for leading sourcing and supply chain risk mitigation programs, typically consisting of multiple workstreams or sub‑projects, from initial scoping through sourcing execution and implementation.

 

The incumbent will:

  • Partner with Category Managers to scope sourcing de‑risking projects, clarify objectives, timelines, success criteria, and dependencies.
  • Align project priorities across stakeholders including Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance, Supply Chain, and Business leadership to ensure focus on the highest‑impact risks and opportunities.
  • Lead sourcing de‑risking initiatives such as dual sourcing, re‑sourcing, supplier transfers, capacity expansions, and cost/risk optimization projects.
  • Own the end‑to‑end sourcing execution for assigned projects, including: – Pre‑sourcing alignment with stakeholders
    • RFQ development, execution, and supplier engagement
    • Commercial and risk evaluation in collaboration with Category Managers
    • Post‑sourcing alignment and presentation of recommendations
    • Awarding decisions and formal supplier nomination
    • Execution of the sourcing change through implementation and stabilization
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, including schedules, milestones, risks, mitigation actions, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure sourcing projects follow TE sourcing policies, governance, and approval processes, as well as applicable quality, safety, compliance, ITAR/EAR, and customer requirements.
  • Monitor and report project status, risks, and progress against plan, escalating constraints or issues as needed and driving timely resolution.
  • Act as a central point of coordination between Category Management, plants, suppliers, and cross‑functional stakeholders throughout execution.
  • Support Category Managers by taking operational ownership of RFQ and sourcing mechanics, allowing categories to focus on strategy, supplier relationships, and long‑term roadmaps.
  • Track benefits realization related to risk reduction, continuity, capacity, cost, and performance improvements.
  • Provide clear and concise updates, dashboards, and report‑outs to supply chain, business, and senior leadership.

 

 

The Sourcing De‑Risking Project Manager is also responsible for identifying resource constraints, supply risks, and execution gaps, working with management to prioritize actions and proactively mitigate risk. The role is expected to operate within a structured project governance and sourcing stage‑gate framework to ensure alignment with AD&M business objectives and TE standards.

What your background should look like

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, operations, business, engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of related experience in Sourcing, Supply Chain, Operations, Project Management, or Continuous Improvement.
  • Proven experience managing complex, cross‑functional projects in a large, global, matrix organization.
  • Strong working knowledge of strategic sourcing processes, including RFQs, supplier evaluation, awarding, and implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects that involve supplier transitions, dual sourcing, de‑risking, or supply continuity improvements.
  • Experience working closely with manufacturing plants, engineering, quality, and suppliers—preferably in a manufacturing‑intensive or Aerospace & Defense environment.
  • Structured project management mindset with experience applying standard methodologies, governance models, and performance tracking.
  • Ability to influence without authority and align diverse stakeholder groups around shared priorities and execution plans.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMI (Project Management Institute) Certification
  • Continuous Improvement certification (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma)
  • Change Management certification (e.g., Prosci)
  • Prior experience with supplier risk mitigation, supply chain resilience, or business continuity programs

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $113,800 - $142,200 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
