Job Overview

As a member of the Industrial Solutions segment Marketing team, the Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing communications plans and crafting content that supports the segment and its businesses (Energy, Medical, Digital Data Networks and Aerospace Defense and Marine). The individual is also responsible for orchestrating communications across the newer Automation and Connected Living sector, including establishing channels and executive communications.  

 

While primarily focused on internal communications, the role will help support high-stakes topics and crisis/reputational risk communications for external stakeholders. The ideal candidate must be skilled at writing for a variety of audiences and able to adapt content for a variety of channels, including written, oral and digital forms. They must be passionate about the work they do, able to adapt quickly to changes and manage multiple projects simultaneously and provide input on strategic plans as well as execute tactical elements. They must excel at message delivery, storytelling and writing with a style that captures the author’s voice and intent, and also the audience’s attention. 

To be successful in this role, the individual in this role will need to build successful relationships and collaborate with various stakeholders and collaborators – including our executive leadership team, Human Resource partners, and marketing and communications colleagues throughout the segment and across TE.

 

Responsibilities

Internal Storytelling (50%)

  • Collaborate with business unit and functional partners to identify compelling customer and culture stories that showcase how we innovate and achieve our purpose. Craft stories for multiple channels, including the intranet, executive presentations, digital messaging boards, videos and other relevant platforms. 
  • Lead strategic communications for the Segment's Inclusion and Diversity Council, collaborating closely with pillar leaders to develop a steady cadency of communications or campaigns to engage teams with their objectives.
  • Own and manage the Segment's monthly newsletter, including editorial calendar development, content creation, business unit collaboration for story amplification, and performance measurement.
  • Develop a communications strategy to support the engagement of frontline employees at manufacturing sites in partnership with our business units, leveraging digital messaging board and local communications champion networks.
  • Building and maintaining the various SharePoint sites for the segment and sector.

 

 

Executive Communications for the Sector (25%)

  • Support executive communications for the President of the Automation and Connected Living sector, including webcasts, memos and presentations.
  • Develop and implement essential communication infrastructure for the newer Automation and Connected Living sector, including an intranet page with Sector resources and shared inbox with established usage guidelines.
  • Coordinate and streamline communications for key initiatives or campaigns across the sector's four business units, ensuring consistent and effective messaging.

 

 

 

 

Strategic Communications Support (15%)

  • Develop strategic communications to support organizational change initiatives, ensuring clear, consistent, and effective messaging across the segment.
  • Support crisis or risk communications in partnership with business unit stakeholders and the Corporate Crisis Management team.
  • Develop communications plans to support potential mergers and acquisitions, including crafting a variety of material various audiences.
  • Provide guidance and communication support on critical customer issues, enabling business units to proactively deliver transparent and meaningful updates that build trust.

 

 

Misc. (10%)

  • Track and report on the effectiveness of internal communications efforts, using data to inform and drive improvement.
  • Work with TE’s internal agency to develop collateral.
  • Ensure internal communications align with TE’s brand and values.
  • Help to fill strategic gaps in communication needs for the segment and its businesses, as needed.

What your background should look like:

Skills & Experience

  • Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, or Public Relations required
    • 6 – 10 years of marketing or communications experience, including a demonstrated ability to produce effective communication materials for different audiences
    • Fluency in English is required
    • Excellent communication skills, written, visual and verbal with the ability to understand technical information, be concise, and capture interest
    • Knowledgeable on current communications trends and practices
    • Curiosity and passion to learn about our businesses to create informative and inspiring communications that supports employee engagement
  • Preferred:
    • Previous global communications experience, ideally with a multi-national manufacturing organization
    • A track record of developing and executing communications plans for various audiences
    • Proven skill in using digital media to connect with stakeholders through compelling messages and stories
    • Experience gathering, presenting, and analyzing performance data
    • Skilled in creating SharePoint pages and video communications
    • Possesses a solid understanding of business principles and strong business acumen

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $117,900 - $147,300 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
