R&D/Product Development Engineer

We have an opportunity for an R&D/Product Development Engineer to join our electro-mechanical team in Europe, based in Den Bosch, Netherlands. TE Connectivity's R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products and turn them into reality. This is a 2-year contract in hybrid mode, with flexibility to work 20% from home.

Your main tasks:

• Responsible for product development and qualification, from market definition through production and release (Electro Mechanical products and connectors, incl. sustaining activities and new product extensions).
• Working with Sales, Product Management, Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Plant Quality, outside vendors and external engineering to ensure smooth release and maintenance of parts
• Assist with qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes;
• Conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs;
• Direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp.
• Proven ability to transform Voice of Customer into Technical Specifications.
• Create concepts and detail design using design and development methods such as DFMEA software:APIS, Tolerance Analysis, etc.
• Doing simulations with software packages like ANSYS
• Work with Product Lifecycle Management and Engineering documentation and change management system
• Work with Shainin for Problem solving and with SixSigma for Product Development

Your ideal background:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Practical experience in product development engineering role(mechanical or electro-mechanical product design) 
• A background in Interconnect, Consumer Electronics, Automotive, Appliances Industry or similar.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (written\spoken) is a must
• Experienced with CAD design tools preferably PTC Creo, incl. PDMLink.
• Experienced in creating detailed production drawings.

Advantageous would be : 

• knowledge in materials like resins, metal and plating
• knowledge of Global Certifications and Regulatory Standards (UL, IEC, etc) 
• Knowledge of LEAN Product Development and processes
• Any additional languages, like German, would be an advantage
• Willingness to travel on occasion (at times short notice).
