Senior Manager Manufacturing Engineering (m/f)

Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing Engineering Teams are process leaders for stamping, molding or assembly related topics, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. They are experts in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Engineering Teams enable the TE business unit plants to reach TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP’s) and advise plants on tool and machine duplications / corrections / improvements. They design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production. The Teams also support Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location. They act as interface between engineering and production to ensure manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp up as well as support the research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.

Job Scope 
The role of this position is to drive all needed solutions within the defined scope of region and technology to improve time, cost, quality and flexibility of the sustaining group and its projects. With this, ensure market driven capacity increases, focus on complex projects.
Additionally, act as interface towards our core business and adjacent organizations and their projects to enable the growth and acceleration of relevant business processes.
Be a leader and engine for all organizational, process- and system enhancements in order to support the overall AUT EMEA performance results. 


Tasks Summary & Responsibilities
    Define and support a vision for upcoming duplication and replacement projects across EMEA, focus is in the area of Data, E-Mobility and Sensors
    Responsible for the definition and execution of large sized and complex duplication projects across EMEA
    Develop new ideas and strategies to drive innovations in machine and tooling concepts and benchmark with the external market
    Establish a close collaboration with internal stakeholders (Operations, Manufacturing Engineering) and external suppliers to improve processes related to Time to Market and Cost Optimization
    Continuous tracking of required skills in current and future business opportunities
    Establish the right KPIs to measure success
    Coach, mentor and develop the team by fostering an environment of continuous learning, and encouraging global collaboration in a geographically and culturally dispersed organization with a strong view on continuous improvement
    Drive the lessons learned process for the next generation of duplication and replacement tools based on TE Best solutions

Requirements for a typical Job Holder / Applicant


Educational Degree
    Bachelor/Master/Dipl.-Ing. Engineering or equivalent


Professional Experience  
    Min 5 years of working experience in Project Management 
    Strong capabilities in tool and machine building technologies
    Proven AUT experience in developing technology solutions in timely market driven manner
    Min 5 years of working experience in the areas of change management and continuous improvement 
    Strong leadership skills
    Deep understanding of Lean Product Development process and subsidiary business processes for tooling projects


Special Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills
    Certified in a Lean Methodology (e.g. Kaizen Facilitator)
    Certified as a Six Sigma Belt (e.g. Green Belt or Black Belt)

    Candidate has broad leadership capabilities; is inspirational and tough if necessary (but always fair), while offering strategic guidance and empowerment
    Works cross function, making sure the matrix works (quality, procurement, and Supply Chain work hand in hand - even without direct reporting lines)
    Candidate is resilient and has good stakeholder management and communication skills, both in- and external.
