Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.

Tasks and Responsibilities


In the function as Process Development Engineer, you are part of the project teams for New Product In-troduction (NPI). Main responsibility is the development of the needed manufacturing processes / equip-ment / specifications for the project/product.
The internal interfaces are Project lead (PJM), Product Engineering (PE), Plant, Procurement, Cost Ac-counting and Quality. Contact external will be mainly manufacturing plants and/or suppliers.


The area of accountability includes the following:

-    Support Product Engineering to optimize Design for manufacturing (DFM) & Design for Assembly (DFA)
-    Create concept and specification for request of serial assembly (manual, semi-automatic, full-automatic) in cooperation with the responsible team member 
-    Configuration of the best possible equipment / processes to create cost calculation for manage-ment presentation/decision
-    RfQ for pilot equipment
-    Follow up of cost, timing and quality in NPI or strategic projects
-    Lead the PFMEA fir process under development
-    Control of progress steps during tool / equipment build phase (global supply base)
-    Provide samples and measurement report to PE for evaluation
-    Check of tool / equipment for release acc. Specification
 

What your background should look like:

-Hold an engineering degree ( Bac+5) with a specialization in Automation, Industrial, or mechanical Engineering
-Experience and knowledge in the field of assembly technology (Mechanical Design / Automation / PLC programming / Test programming) 
-Experience and knowledge in the development of customized machine. 
-Knowledge of molding or stamping is a plus
-Extensive understanding of LEAN manufacturing processes
-Experience in project management
-Customer orientation and high level of commitment
-Willingness to drive continuous improvements 
-Very good oral and written communication skills in English
-Ability to work in a matrix environment with a multicultural team
-Strategic thinking
-Presentation skills
