Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Machinist Team's responsibilities include, assignment planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various types of manual, numerically controlled and computerized machine shop equipment. They work from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions, communicating directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assembly. Every team member is responsible for maintaining housekeeping and organization of the work area as well as following TE Connectivity's EH&S policies and procedures.




The Application Tooling Division of TE Connectivity is currently seeking a skilled Production Machinist to join our component machining team on our 2nd shift.  This role will support our business goals and our Customers' expectations, and will be primarily assigned to our Makino Horizontal Mill - flexing to other areas as needed to meet the demands of our Customer.

This position is located at our Waynesboro, PA site.

Responsibilities & Qualifications


  • Visualize, comprehend and forward think the best machining practices necessary to complete part
  • Hold tolerances as tight as .0002 for various components
  • Troubleshoot issues and work with appropriate resource(s) (i.e. Engineering, Supervision, Inspection, etc.) to resolve
  • Perform first-piece inspection using micrometers, calipers, height indicator, etc.
  • Comprehend shop math and be resourceful in deciphering dimensions, tolerances, angles, etc.
  • Effectively manage work time and be self-directed in order to meet production needs/schedules
  • Exhibit understanding, flexibility and willingness to changing priorities and fast-pace environments
  • Communicate effectively with peers, management and other internal departments

Qualifications & Experience 

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 5 years machine shop experience running various machine equipment
  • Basic knowledge/comprehension of shop math
  • Heat treat knowledge or experience a plus


Additional Responsibilities, Qualifications, Experience & information specific to the Makino Horizonal Mill 

  • Will assist with machine set-up, tooling and programming, as well as executing prove-outs, etc.
  • Direct experience with horizontal mills is required.
  • Will demonstrate self-sufficiency in set-ups and multi-tasking abilities.
  • The demonstrated ability to read, understand and effectively utilize written processes, “print drawings”, tolerances and tolerance symbols.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the various capabilities of the Makino mill.
  • After a period of training and “familiarization” with the controls and capabilities of the machine, the candidate will be required to demonstrate that ability by machining a “test piece” in a given period of time.
  • Will be expected to run other lathes and to assist in other shop functions during “free time” caused by long machining cycles. , i.e. operating a second machine, de-burring and/or cleaning parts, etc.
  • The candidate will be expected to, after a reasonable amount of time, maintain a high level of productivity and quality.
