What you'll be doing...

As a member of our Medical business, you’ll provide high quality engineering solutions to complex manufacturing problems, drive improvement using industry best practices, standardize work, and mentor coworkers when executing value added technical work. 


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Designing and developing production equipment, tooling and/or processes for a variety of products using knowledge of electronic controls, pneumatic actuators, mechanical systems, and operator interfaces.
  • Translating user and process requirements into cost effective and efficient solutions that increase productivity, addresses ergonomic requirements and safety guidelines.
  • Transferring manufacturing equipment to sister site(s) by providing technical guidance and initial support during commissioning process.
  • Developing equipment specification to be used internally with value streams or externally with vendors.
  • Managing specifications and deliverables for outsourced automation projects that include customer/vendor visits, design reviews, site acceptance test, and others.
  • Providing technical support on mechanical or automated systems on a consulting capacity to other sites by providing recommendations to increase productivity and uptime.
  • Executing or leading development of new concepts/ or make improvements to existing equipment by performing tasks that include but not limited to:
    • Conceptual design, mechanical design, control system specification, detailed drawings, bill of materials, and pneumatic/electrical schematics, and installation.
  • Preparing cost estimates for equipment at early stages of design to be used for requesting funds for capital assets.
  • Setting, implementing and maintaining schedules and communication cadence to ensure project completion.




What your background should look like…

  • BS Engineering Degree
  • A minimum of 5 years of recent machine design and project management experience
  • Positive, Adaptable attitude
  • Solid Modeling/Drafting ability (Solidworks preferred, others acceptable)
  • Able to analyze tolerance stack-ups and optimize parts for manufacturability
  • Quick Learner with strong mechanical aptitude and a hands-on approach


Nice to have…

  • MS Engineering Degree
  • ISO 13485 or FDA 21 CFR 820 experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • Machine shop/metal fabrication experience, design for manufacturability
  • Experience with high mix/low volume, many individual operator dependent processes implementing necessary structure and systems to improve
  • Experience dealing with third party equipment and process development suppliers.
  • Diverse metallurgical experience
  • Experience in a regulated industry such as aerospace, pharmaceutical, or medical devices.
