Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

The TE Sensor Solutions R&D team is responsible for delivering validated and high performant sensing technologies to the product development team. In this context, the R&D algorithm engineer is a key member of the R&D team and reports to the R&D manager. You will be directly responsible for researching, developing and designing new algorithms using design tools and methodologies, and as such you will need a robust and creative approach, with an ability to listen critically and a desire to produce detailed solutions which will be the foundation of new sensor products. In this position you will develop algorithm from prior art analysis, from prior knowledge, from existing assets in the company, and/or from a blank page.


Responsibilities & Qualifications

The prime responsibilities of the Algorithm engineer are:

  • Develop smart and robust algorithm to be embedded into TESS sensors product to achieve performance and diagnosis targets, in a lean project environment;
  • Edit Software release notes for innovative algorithm, review them with SW team and peers, and support embedded SW implementation;
  • Build Matlab simulation tools and real time Simulink models to support system integration actions;
  • Support system engineer work and communicate on databasis needs for format and content;
  • Edit proof of concept test reports for new algorithm solutions
  • Support software and algorithm DFMEA actions
  • Patent algorithm for specific applications, with focus on combined algorithm plus design features joint patents;

The critical factors of success are:

  • Master's or Engineering Degree in Applied Mathematics, or other similar quantitative fields
  • Deep background algorithm development (PhD or special Master is a +) with a Machine learning knowledge (NN, Supervised and unsupervised learning, Machine Vision Learning) – certifications appreciated
  • Curiosity and R&D mindset
  • Statistics knowledge and tools (R, JMP)
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • A proficient user of MATLAB, SIMULINK and Python
  • Ability to work in autonomy and as a proactive team member.
  • Experience in algorithm development for sensors in automotive context is highly appreciated
