Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Tooling Teams perform the manufacturing functions related to metal working dies and tool making. They are responsible for completing all assignments to construct, modify and condition metal working dies and may fabricate new gages, cutting or forming tools and fixtures by analyzing blueprints, sketches, models and engineering or shop specifications. They perform precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions; recommend revisions in design and/or substitutions in material based on machinability or fabrication problems encountered; and solve problems relating to unusual materials, machine settings, fabrication methods, and production process. Every team member is responsible for maintaining housekeeping and organization of the work area as well as following TE Connectivity's EH&S policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish preventive maintenance procedures to extend the lifespan of molds and prevent unexpected breakdowns.
  • Collaborate with production teams to schedule downtime for mold maintenance without disrupting the manufacturing process.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mold-related problems, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Work closely with the manufacturing team to address any issues affecting the quality of products.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of mold maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Create and update maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality control, and design/engineering teams, to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Participate in meetings to discuss mold performance, improvement opportunities, and upcoming maintenance schedules.
  • Identify areas for improvement in mold design or maintenance procedures to enhance overall efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in mold maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements & safety protocols related to mold maintenance.
  • Provide training to maintenance and production staff on proper mold handling, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.

What your background should look like:

  • Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in mold maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mold materials, machining, and fabrication processes.
  • Familiarity with CAD software for reviewing and interpreting mold designs.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
