Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.

What your background should look like:

Role Statement:
The Staff MDE Automation Engineer develops manufacturing equipment with supplier including automation equipment, standard equipment, and none-standard equipment for new projects.
Target is to utilize and adapt emerging manufacturing base-technologies for the needs of Relay Manufacturing by executing economic projects for real-life mass-production and integrate and standardize them in the internal Relay Manufacturing Technology Platforming System for Process- and Automation Technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
    Development and creation of technical documents (Target Specifications, etc.) as a basis for the procurement of cost-efficient manufacturing systems for electromechanical relays
    Active participation from technical side in establishing strategic partnerships with suppliers for such equipment.
    Technical qualification of the above-mentioned suppliers
    Active cost- and time-management for equipment development
    Supervise equipment installation, debug, trial run to meet defined requirements.
    Planning and carrying out equipment acceptance procedures
    Coordination and alignment between suppliers and internal experts and departments
    Active communication with higher project- and functional-management levels
    Ensures proper use of existing Automation platform-technologies and –elements in new production equipment (assembly lines, machines,…) by creating equipment target-specs. and obligatory equipment concept- and design-approvals
    Supports the further development and extension of the existing Automation Platform
Key Requirements:
    Bachelor's degree in mechatronics / mechanical engineering / electrical engineering or similar.
    Experience in procurement of industrial manufacturing equipment (high level automation assembly line)
    Good knowledge of commercially advance machine components/systems including sensors, robots, motion modules, vision systems and safety components
    Good knowledge of spoken and written English 
    Comfortable in working in globally connected teams.
    Creativity and innovative thinking
    Ideally project management certification is preferred (e.g.: PMP)
    Good EHS awareness for equipment safety
