Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.

Your responsibilities

  • Support of product engineering with the optimization of the design for manufacturing (DFM) & Design for Assembly (DFA)
  • Creation of concepts and specification for serial production (manuell, semi-automatic, automatic machines)
  • Creation of cost calculation of new equipment for managment presentations/decisions
  • Request for quotation for sample tools
  • Monitoring of cost, timing and quality in NPI and strategic projects
  • Tracking of progress and timing during the build phase of tools/lines (global supplier base) 
  • Handover of samples and measurement reports to product engineering for evaluation
  • Acceptance of tools/lines according to specification
  • Contact for suppliers for clarification of technical questions/details

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor/Master degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or appropriate education  (f.e. toolmaker, industrial technician) with some years of work experience.
  • Experience and know-how in the field of assembly technology for more than 8 years
  • Experience in the assembly of relays, switches and connectors
  • Experience in cable assembly
  • Knowledge in software programming and electronics
  • Knowledge in creation of PFMEA
  • Knowledge in stamping and forming of metal components beneficial
  • Experience in project management
  • Profound knowledge in LEAN production process
  • Customer orientation and strong engagement
  • Ability to work in a matrix organisation and a multicultural team
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in english and native language
  • Good communication skills in german beneficial
