Job Overview

The Digital Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for leading and implementing digital transformation initiatives within manufacturing processes, specifically in plastic injection molding, cable assembly, and molding operations. This role combines expertise in smart factory technologies, continuous improvement methodologies, and information technology to drive efficiency, quality, and data-driven decision-making in a maquiladora (EMS) environment.

Position Summary:

The Digital Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for leading and implementing digital transformation initiatives within manufacturing processes, specifically in plastic injection molding, cable assembly, and molding operations. This role combines expertise in smart factory technologies, continuous improvement methodologies, and information technology to drive efficiency, quality, and data-driven decision-making in a maquiladora (EMS) environment.
Key Responsibilities:
•    Design, implement, and maintain digital manufacturing solutions including real-time production monitoring, traceability systems, IoT integration, MES platforms, and automation technologies.
•    Lead and support continuous improvement projects (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve process flow.
•    Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, IT, production, and quality departments to ensure alignment between technology and manufacturing needs.
•    Leverage data analytics to monitor KPIs, identify trends, and support operational decision-making through tools such as Power BI, SQL, or similar platforms.
•    Drive the integration of automation and control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and industrial networks, to enable smarter, more efficient production.
•    Support manufacturing validation and optimization in plastic injection molding and cable assembly processes.
•    Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and industry-specific standards when applying digital and IT-based solutions on the shop floor.
•    Stay updated with Industry 4.0 trends and emerging technologies relevant to manufacturing environments.


Requirements:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Electronics, Manufacturing, Systems Engineering, or related field.
•    3–5 years of experience in a maquiladora or EMS manufacturing environment (preferably in plastics injection molding and cable assembly).
•    Proven experience in:
o    Digital Manufacturing / Industry 4.0 implementations
o    Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other CI tools
o    IT systems in manufacturing (MES, SCADA, ERP, traceability systems)
o    Automation and controls (PLC, HMI, sensors, industrial networks)
o    Data visualization and analysis tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL, Python – preferred)
o    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
o    Intermediate to advanced English proficiency.
