Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Purchasing Teams are responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment and services, gather quotations, examine bids, and award contracts. They perform cost analysis and volume planning for commodities, evaluate vendor reliability and develop new supply sources where required. They coordinate purchasing activities with the manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. They also look for and recommend cost saving proposals including make vs. buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria as well as develop specifications for new contract orders.

Responsibilities

• New Projects Sourcing for Raw Materials, Parts & Tools & Follow TE’s sourcing process for all new spend (pre/post RFQ approvals).
• Collaborate with CFT to decide make or buy strategy.
• Independent handling of series and prototype requests taking into account the requirements of drawings, specifications, deadlines, quality, cost of materials & capex taking into account the global and regional purchasing strategy,
• Decide suppliers in line with commodity strategy for floating RFQs.
• Prepare internal zero-based cost estimates & Evaluate the supplier offers before we share the most appropriate offer for costing consideration.
• Present the business case to Sourcing Committee for all the proposals & getting it approved.
• Ensure all the material is as per technical specifications & all the requirements are met – get this approved from PE/Quality team.
• Material ordering & tool after contractual biding to safeguard TE’s commitment to customer/product functionality. .
• Complete legal requirements, price benchmarking & initial assessment of the new suppliers.
• Prepare detailed project timeline & align project timing with core team to allow sufficient lead time for start of mass production.
• Creation of quotation packages for the awarding scope of the new projects, negotiations with suppliers and creation of benchmarks in cooperation with the Lead Buyers
• Proactive analysis of gaps and opportunities and conduct of project specific negotiations in alignment with the commodity managers.
• Cost structure analysis, control of quotes in relation to total cost 

Required Skills

• BE/ B. Tech in Mechanical / Production / Mechatronics Engineering
• Knowledge about various phases of product realization and product development & information on local/regional/global supplier base for cable assembly components or electronics 
• SAP knowledge

CRITICAL EXPERIENCE

• 10 to 14 years’ experience as Strategic Sourcing Engineer or new program buyer or Commodity Buyer within automotive or Electronics industry.
• Experience in supplier selection, development of components/parts/tools as per Automotive standards, experience in preparing cost estimations and negotiations for price agreement is must.
• Previous experience in working with multi-disciplinary cross functional engineering teams and coordination with affiliate local/regional and global procurement teams.
