Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Environmental Health & Safety Teams ensure and monitor safety in the workplace. This includes the application and communication of health, safety and hazardous material standards, procedures and practices consistent with TE, environmental and government regulations.

Tasks & Responsibilities: 

  • Advising the site management and the department leaders on all issues relating to environmental safety, health protection and accident prevention. Translate the organization's overall strategy into a concrete safety and health strategy for Oostkamp.
  • Ensuring that EHS processes and EHS guidelines are adhered to and implemented, considering TE policies and legal requirements.
  • Review of site EHS goals, EHS performance and requirements in regular intervals and support the organization and the management team to achieve the EHS policy and goals.
  • Promote the EHS culture through the organization to strive for a zero incident workplace and zero harm culture.
  • Monitor the EHS performance (number of accidents at work, incidents, environmental metrics), establish effective lead metrics and take care of internal and external reporting and communication.
  • Coaching and developing employees within EHS department, provide meaningful career discussions and support their growth path within TE.
  • Keep yourself continuously informed about the evolutions within the field and changes in the applicable legislation.
  • Organization of safety committee meetings
  • Independent execution of EHS initiatives to achieve our goal of "Zero Incidents" and creation of a "Zero Harm Culture".
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement methods and processes to ensure compliance with TE EHS targets, goals and standards within the organization and drive continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate environmental initiatives and assist in achieving TE sustainability goals.
  • Conduct and support internal and external audits (ISO14001/ISO45001)
  • Cooperation with the HR department in the context of wellbeing and health management as well as with the company doctor

What your background should look like:

  • Successfully completed technical studies (engineer, bachelor, or master) or comparable qualification
  • Several years of relevant professional experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Professional experience in a position with comparable tasks in the field of EHS preferred, experience in management and in leading direct employees, leadership skills
  • Knowledge in environmental and occupational safety management as well as internal auditor (ISO 14001/ISO45001)
  • Profound knowledge in the fields of occupational health and safety/environmental management, machine safety, hazardous substances, and emergency management
  • Ability to work in a team, structured and solution-oriented, analytical thinking as well as project management
  • Speaking Dutch and good knowledge of English
