Job Overview
Staff Mfg & Process Development Engineer - Software Systems
Essential Functions:
- Provides functional and empirical analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of software operating/automation systems, including, but not limited to, utility, development, and diagnostic software.
- Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analysis for total systems.
- Has a substantial impact on Advanced Manufacturing Technology Roadmap development projects.
- Drives for excellence in existing software operating/automation systems for Stamping, Plating, Assembly, and Molding (SPAM) technologies and methods.
- Strives to implement optimized or new software operating/automation systems for manufacturing technologies to improve processes and tolerance control.
- Provides software operating/automation systems expert knowledge and collaborates with Product Development in optimizing part and product designs for SPAM manufacturability, contributing to the realization of product samples and prototypes.
- Provides software operating/automation system expert knowledge to integrate with SPAM manufacturing processes and realize advanced manufacturing technology development projects.
- Acts as a binding element between product development and advanced manufacturing & process engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface.
- Designs, develops, and qualifies software operating/automation systems in compliance with TE EH&S, quality and production standards, and recognized industry standards.
- Documents all software operating/automation systems-related processes in applicable TE systems.
- Supports supply chain to verify software operating/automation systems related to suppliers’ compliance and capability.
- Initiates and implements software operating/automation systems-related programs to improve quality, cost, and cycle time continuously.
- Maintains and adheres to all appropriate specifications and regulatory and customer requirements.
- Applies software operating/automation systems expertise to resolve significant/unique/complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
- Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments, performing work without appreciable direction.
- Provides measurable input to the department's objectives and goals supporting the function and business unit strategies.

- Minimum eight years of related experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree (Electrical, Mechatronic, or related) required; Master’s preferred.
- Demonstrates expertise in software operating/automation systems by integrating theory and principles with organizational practices and precedents into work.
- Deep technical knowledge of programming language/devices (e.g., PLC, SCADA, HMI, DCS) and hands-on experience with MATLAB or AutoCAD.
- Trainer-level knowledge of general engineering tools (LEAN or 6-sigma) such as DoE, FMEA, QFD, CI, etc.
- Understanding of competitive products and IP positions.
- Broad knowledge of SPAM manufacturing processes for connectors and sockets is desired.
- Working knowledge of signal integrity concepts is desired.
- Drives result primarily through collaboration and influence, not through direct reporting relationships.
- Provides training and mentorship to other professional employees.
- Practical application of MS Office software (Word, Excel, PPT, Project, & Outlook).
- Advanced project management skills and experience – PM Process Model.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% on average.
Competencies
COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $117,120 - 175,680 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
