Job Overview

his is a fantastic opportunity to join our Aerospace and Defence Project Management Office.

Reporting to a Portfolio Manager/PMO Director, the position holder will have primary responsibility for the delivery of strategic New Product Development Programs comprised of multiple projects that, together, deliver system-level solutions within the ADM Business Unit. This is a customer-facing role with program ownership and accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives.

The Program Manager is a prominent role within TE and the position holder will drive the successful performance of multiple high-profile/value programs following defined methods and processes to achieve commercial and efficiency targets set by the business.

Developing relationships and maintaining a high level of communication with cross-functional global teams will be critical to the role. You will be required to act as the primary owner of each program and to report progress to a senior leadership team on a regular cadence and at specific key milestones during each Project/Program lifecycle.

The role is open to remote working, but proximity to a TE site for onboarding and, when required, in-person work is preferred. There is also the option of full-time on-site or hybrid remote and on-site working.

Global Travel is possible up to 10% of the time (when customers and restrictions allow)

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with other business leaders on strategy development for assigned product lines/platforms.  
  • Utilizing an understanding of industry trends to inform the decision-making process.
  • Managing communications across programs that create clear, concise requirements in project functionality, resourcing, budgets, and timing.
  • Working in conjunction with business counterparts as primary liaisons with customers at a program level.  
  • Managing links among multiple projects and working with project managers to adjust sub-project activities and priorities to maintain program goals and objectives.
  • Supervises budget management activities over projects within a program and is accountable for the program budget.
  • Providing leadership and guidance to individual project managers to ensure that projects are cohesively delivered to enable the combined program-level benefits in line with business strategies.
  • Acting as the escalation focal point for all complex, or interdependent, project-level issues and coordinating across all functional areas to resolve program-level issues to achieve the business and customer requirements.
  • Responsible for combining the project-level risks into a program-level risk management strategy to ensure all elements of the program are delivered in line with the business case and business strategy.
  • Overseeing changes in the project scope for sub-projects to ensure cause and effect with all aspects of the program are considered.
  • Establishing and leading program planning, reporting, and performance tracking framework and benchmarks, including monitoring and control mechanisms.
  • Responsible for program-level status reporting to the senior leadership team to ensure the program is progressing in line with the business's strategic plan.
  • Developing, monitoring, and managing program-level plans to ensure all sub-level projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and scope. 
  • Work with project managers to develop and monitor consolidated program-level resource plans.
  • Identify strategic opportunities for process improvement across programs.

What your background should look like:

 

  • 7 years of experience customer-facing product solutions using the Stage-Gate process
  • Project Management - knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Program Management - knowledge of the policies and techniques to manage a set of related projects within a program; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control the set of projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve program objectives.
  • A strong foundation of business fundamentals, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; the ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Demonstrates a big-picture understanding of the business, its interrelationships, and priorities.
  • Strong decision-making and critical thinking - knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment, and ability to think laterally across the organization.
  • Problem-solving - knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational, or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem-solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiating, and influencing skills and the ability to build strong, credible relationships with multiple organization functions (internal and external)
  • Project Management Professional (e.g. PMP, Prince 2)
  • Good level of IT capability with detailed experience in Microsoft Office (MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Flexibility and a willingness to travel.

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $146,640 - 219,960 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
