Job Overview

The manager of manufacturing engineering and continuous improvement plays a critical role in leading a team of manufacturing and industrial engineers as well as continuous improvement analysts. This candidate will have the responsibility of leading this team in the identification, facilitation, and execution of projects that establish, refine, and improve overall plant operations and methods resulting in productivity gains and first-time success of new product introduction. The candidate will have responsibility for the deployment, maintenance, and being a key influencer for the performance of the factory’s TEOA program (TEOA is a Lean Business System that provides a framework that every business unit and function within TE can follow to transform any process to lean, and continuously improve and sustain the gains).  
 
This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident.  

 

Essential duties include but may not be limited to the following: 

  • Lead and oversee a team of manufacturing and industrial engineers in the identification, prioritization, and successful execution of their projects. 
  • Achieve annual productivity goals established from year over year factory performance. 
  • Create annual and ongoing budgetary proposals for capital expenditure and the continued monitoring of the resulting savings and impacts. 
  • Oversees the design and development of new and existing work centers on the factory floor as well as within the plants ERP. 
  • Lead and oversee the manufacturing engineers in the participation of the factory’s weekly financial performance review as it pertains to manufacturing variances. 
  • Lead the manufacturing engineering team in the relevant workflow of new part introduction including time studies and router creation as well as standard work creation. 
  • Collaborate with operational and engineering peer groups to achieve pertinent business goals and objectives. 
  • Develop and implement robust and sustainable lean processes and methods under the guidance and requirements of the businesses TEOA program. 
  • Lead and oversee the facilitation of kaizen and kaizen burst events, value stream mapping, and other lean methodologies to drive factory improvements. 
  • Manages monthly report outs to plant management as well as senior management on productivity KPI, MVAR, TEOA star level assessments (lean tool deployment rating), and any corresponding trends, pareto, and action plans. 
  • Performs other relevant duties as assigned by plant manager
     

What your background should look like:

Required Qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering. 
  • 10 years’ experience in manufacturing engineering management. 
  • Strong executive presence to be an influential force on direct reports, peers, higher management, as well as customers. 
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software, ERP systems, and other relevant engineering tools. 
  • Strong cross collaboration and team building skills with a passion to develop and coach team members. 
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt), preferred. 
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with a results-oriented approach. 
  • Experience in project management, with a solid understanding of project management principles and methodologies. 
  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and production techniques. 


Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Demonstrated exposure to high mix with low volume manufacturing environments. 
  • AS9100 management exposure. 
  • Working knowledge of Subsafe level 1 products and requirements. 
  • Exposure to Subsafe level 1 welding and machining.

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $132,640- 198,960 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
