Responsibilities & Qualifications

We have an exciting opportunity for a Summer Intern to undertake technical activities and other tasks as required related to the IoT Lab. These tasks could typically be evaluation of technology (hardware, software and services), testing hardware, software and services and writing up results. Writing software as required for embedded devices, web applications or services and end user applications. Creating rapid prototypes, proof of concept models and demonstrations of IoT technologies.

 

The successful candidate will be given specific “on the job training” by the team in Cambridge. We will mentor and coach the candidate by assigning specific tasks as fits their abilities.

 
Key tasks of the job:
•Laboratory evaluation and verification of IoT Systems and Building Blocks
•Creation of reports of findings of any evaluations
•Build rapid prototypes, proof of concept models or demonstration systems of IoT technologies and services
•Write software components as required for embedded devices, Web applications or services, end user applications.
•Contribute to technical, architectural and design discussions.

 

Qualifications & specialist training required:
•Candidates will most likely be studying for BS/MS Elec. Eng. or Computer Eng. with Software Focus and tracking to at least a 2:1 degree.
•They will have exposure to both hardware and software.
•They will have some programming experience.
•They will have a desire to work in software engineering.

 

Experience required:

As this is an intern position we would expect the candidates to have relevant experience gained from their course but do not expect them to have any commercial experience. They will have some programming experience but more importantly are highly motivated and express a willingness to gain work experience in software development.

 

Particular skill / aptitude required:
•Experience of programming languages would be highly desirable.
•Linux experience would be highly desirable.
