Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing Engineering Teams are process leaders for stamping, molding or assembly related topics, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. They are experts in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Engineering Teams enable the TE business unit plants to reach TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP’s) and advise plants on tool and machine duplications / corrections / improvements. They design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production. The Teams also support Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location. They act as interface between engineering and production to ensure manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp up as well as support the research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement E-Mobility and Contactors manufacturing engineering strategy to establish operations as a competitive advantage; lead Engineering team to meet and exceed KPIs of manufacturing area.
  • Lead strategy to improve equipment safety, performance, OEE, PFMEA robustness, COPQ reduction, Safety, between other KPIs.
  • Support current and introduction of new product and processes within the Engineering Organization. Support the operations on a Value Stream and to lead the process continue improvement process. Responsible for the Lean / TEOA tools related with the Engineering function. 
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining methods, operation sequence and processes in the fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies. Includes the operation, control and optimization of manufacturing processes to improve efficiency.
  • Responsible for design and analysis of mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the shipped products fulfill with the specifications and standards of quality, through engineering techniques that solve the problems of manufacturing processes of our products.
  • Responsible of analyzing, creating and keeping the production standards and job methods with the purpose of optimizing the plant operations.
  • Develop forward looking plans along with plants for capital spending. Prepare justification proposals, document specifications, develop performance requirements and oversee project planning and execution.
  • Automation projects for assembly and core processes

  • Lead savings effort within the organization trough Center of Excellence and Non-conversion savings

 

Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years operational and/or technical experiences within manufacturing with a detailed knowledge of current manufacturing technologies for precision molding and assembly automation techniques.
  • Experience in handle of complex projects that requires planning, costing y justification of capital investment that redundant in quantifying improvements to the productive processes. Updated in the knowledge of techniques of World Class Manufacturing, Quality total administration and advanced quality planning. 
  • High technical skills to troubleshoot/repair fully automatic equipment and lead engineering team for machine improvements/repair. Controls and Mechanical skills desired.
  • Knowledge in techniques and formats: SPC, FMEA's, control plans, etc.
  • Ability to train and develop engineers under his/her supervision
  • Knowledge on Cable Assembly processes, Labor Intensive Operations, Semiautomatic and Automatic Assembly Processes
  • Knowledge on Core Processes as Injection Molding, Stamping and Platting (desired)
  • Excellent commercial and business acumen with deep experience in analyzing supplier technologies and capabilities; experienced in matrix management with a track record of being able to manage by influence and coordinate cross business unit activities
  • Possesses working knowledge of SAP, CAD, applicable TE systems (SAP).
  • Lean manufacturing / continuous improvement skills and knowledge - kaizen, kanban, 5s, 8d, Just in Time, and Cost improvement concepts.
  • Lean six sigma Expert/Black belt preferred
  • BA/BS degree in an Engineering or Technical discipline, advanced engineering degree strongly preferred.
  • Willingness to travel, and as necessary, to support a global organization.
  • IATF Audits.
  • Advanced English (written and spoken).
